At the time Paul wrote this armies would often shoot flaming arrows at their enemy, to defend themselves they would soak their sheilds of leather so to extinguish them. In the same way when we hold onto our faith nothing the enemy launches against us will harm us.
Ephesians 6:16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

you are not being persecuted you probably live very well. It is the fiery darts of greed that are shot at the poorest people on earth by right wing Christians who support politicians and multinational companies and the industry of war. famine slave labor in third world countries and the poverty right here in America you should be concerned with.
The Christian Right is the largest contributor to evil poverty and hunger in this world. It makes all the Christians who Actually do what Jesus tells them to do look bad.

That's what the Bible says:
Ephesians 6:10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
Why do you ask? Are you wondering what it means? For one thing it means that we have faith in God's word and so we don't fall for the lies of the Devil who would lead us into sin or try to get us to doubt our salvation or become discouraged by circumstances but instead know that God is with us through them all. See Romans 8:28-39

No, what you need is to use the rational part of your brain and look at the facts. If your "faith" was in something true you could
defend it WITHOUT calling people EVIL. It is evil of you to call others evil just because they do not agree with you.
Can you explain why I should believe as you do without resorting to nonsense and belittling names. I would strongly urge you to get and Read professor Dawkins book THE GOD DELUSION
It is a best seller and If you are at all open minded you will read it and NOT jump to conclusions about it before you do.
It is on-line and you can read the first chapter for free.

Thumbs down will not make what I have typed any less true. It will however show how intolerant some people are when faced with uncomfortable truth.

Yes we do. We are to put on the full armor of God. The problem is that we know this but don't always do it. Do you agree with that?

That is what the scripture says. It is one of the things God speaks about when putting on the whole armour of God.
