I stayed with my ex-bf because I didn't want to hurt him. Sometimes though you just have to take that leap and hope that things will turn out for the best. A person has to realize that there are two parties involved and both deserve their own chance at happiness. Staying with someone for the wrong reasons doesn't allow for that chance.

Maisie, Your most important relationship is with yourself. Learn to love yourself, celebrate what a wonderful person you are. If you truly love yourself you can accept anyone into your life. But you will learn how to honor yourself by the friends you keep close. Consider this; look at a person's close friends and you can tell a lot about that person. If others look at your friend, what does that say about you? Do you feel honored in the presence of your friend? If you don't have the same feelings for your Friend that he has for you, tell him. He will get over being hurt...but you won't get over living a life with someone you don't truly care for. Honor yourself first.

Sometimes it's because we think we can change them and other times it's because we don't want to be alone. Never the less that very person can make you happy at times and really hurt you. Out weighing the differences is important when being ready to go on with that type of relationship.

Because I am married to him and I have a family with him. Feelings change all the time.
My marriage vows said thru thick and thin, good and bad.
He is a good man and a great Dad.
