This only happens with one tap in the house. I open the tap and the flow is strong. As the water becomes warm, the flow diminishes until it becomes a dribble when the water is hot. I must open the tap further to use it. It's like it is becoming blocked as the water heats. It happens irrespective of there being other taps being turned on in the house.

I have a large new gas hot water system that runs well. All other taps run normally.

Any ideas?

Sometimes the type of faucet it is, the hot water cause the Rubber Washer to expand and close off the opening. You may try take it apart and see if the washer is loose or damaged.

You say that you have a new hot water system. It could be that when the system was installed, a piece of debris (like solder) found its way to the tap in question. You should open up and clean the valve, and check to make sure the rubber washer or gasket is not loose. Also look under the sink to see if there is a shutoff valve, which may also need to be cleaned.

The hot water causes the rubber washer to soften and expand. The only solution I can suggest is to use a washerless faucet. 130 degrees should be the maximum temp you should set your water heater to avoid scalding.

Most materials expand as temperature increases. It could be that something in the valve is expanding and choking flow.
