It's better than dating one who's dumber than a post!! Have you ever tried to have a meaningful conversation (much less relationship) with someone who is much your intellectual inferior that you have no common ground in which to even start a conversation.

This wouldn't bother me.I think that intelligence comes in many forms.Sometimes it may come in the form of formal education and personal growth.Other times it may come from life experiences or common sense. Each is has its own value to compliment the other.Without one the other can be a handicap for many people. This is where the saying (an educated idiot) comes from.As long as two people can have a conversation on the same level without one or the other trying to prove their superior intelligence then they should be OK.

It's difficult for guys to date girls smarter than they are. It's also difficult for us to date over-achievers. But it's even worse when the girl is intelligent and lies about it or downplays or exaggerates everything to appear less intelligent than she is. Fortunately, I happen to be fairly intelligent and knowledgeable, and I'm studying a technical subject in college. So that situation is rare for me. Occasionally I encounter girls who seem slightly smarter than me (or at least a bit more accomplished) in my classes, but they're usually ugly or have intolerable personality flaws. I can tell you that most men prefer to be smarter than their girlfriends. However, it may be more tolerable if you aren't the type of person who brags or shows off. And by no means should you resort to playing the fool . . . I, for one, always see through it and it causes some major trust issues before anything gets started. Maybe you should date smarter guys! Good night!
Oh yeah, I almost forgot . . . it IS (as one other answerer pointed out) more tolerable to date a pleasant and moderately intelligent woman than it is to date a dumb one. At least it is if you're an intelligent guy. The dumb ones are often too caught up in whatever the media is up to, what celebrites are doing, etc, to relate to well. Good night!

By all means yes!!! As long as the intelligence I did posses were not belittled. If a relationship of any kind is based on respect--unless 1 was hyper intell. and the other had the smarts of a rock--there should never be a problem. My wife has a PHD and I'm upper level blue collar--I know , in most ways, she's smarter than me--we have gotten along great for 18 yrs!!!

why would that create a problem? If you are a nice person and I like you as a person and a woman, then how intelligent you happen to be is not an issue. However,I have found some very intelligent people-not just limited to women- that seem to have a big need to have someone stroke their ego on a regular basis and that can create a problem.

Im on my wifes account.(Im a guy) My wifes more intelligent then me academically, but I make up for it with personality and thinking outside the box to lifes problems. Together we are a good combination. I think it depends on what the other party has to bring into the relationship. A good attitude, common sense, good work ethic, sense of humor, and character dont have anything to do with intelligence but can add a lot to a relationship.

The problem is that most women automatically assume they are more intelligent than any man they date. Why would they want to be with a man that does not match their intelligence? I know I wouldn't. Sure, a good screw for a while is fun, but in the long wrong you don't want to be stuck with a dunce.

I could
she wouldn't be smarter in EVERY way.
smart is sexy
I would look forward to the surprises, just whatever interesting thing to contemplate or react to
I read books to get that. Also, I enjoy this for that reason.
I have lots of common sense, maybe it would balance.

I can't wait to come back and read the answers. LOL I hate the idea of pretending not to be intelligent because a guy has such an ego! I won't do it.
Best Wishes,
Sue
