My wife and I went to her office Christmas party, a dinner at a very nice restaurant. The wine flowed pretty freely, but I behaved myself with only two glasses.

At the dinner table, my wife and I sat across from one her co-workers and his wife. She had had a few and really began flirting with me. She spooned out some of her creme brulee for me to taste, and then began playing footsies with me. I moved my feet and she played footsies wth me some more, so I know it was intentional.

Of course, I told my wife, who thought it was funny. But I have a feeling that we'll encounter this woman at another upcoming corporate function. She might be a bit standoffish after sobering up. Or she might just pick up where she left off.

How would you handle it? I'm especially interested in a woman's opinion.

Muslim gal....I'd rather for my wife or any woman be free than a slave. You're simply rationalizing that you have no freedom.

I'm not really interested in cultural observations. I'm just making sure that I do the right thing to ensure nobody gets embarrassed and nobody gets the wrong idea.

She is probably really embarrased and wants a chance to apologize give her the opportunity too. Well that is if she still remembers this situation. But if she is not forward enough to apologize then pretend as if nothing had happened she will probably apreciate it. Just take a deep breath and try not to be too embarrased while you are around her. Also if she has had some alchohol to drink try to steer clear of her, just don't be too obvious. Also I give you major thumbs up on telling your wife instead of keeping it to yourself!

Well, I'm glad your wife isn't the jealous type! Hopefully you will see her BEFORE she has too much to drink and make a joke about it. Be cordial, act like "it ain't nothing but a thing". If she starts the same behavior again, say something like " Well, I can see you've been in the wine again" make a joke of it. Change seats if necessary, if this doesn't work walk off and talk to someone else. And I hate to say it you may just have to come out and tell her to stop, that it is making you feel uncomfortable. She may also be the type who likes to make her husband jealous or wants to make your wife jealous.

Man's opinion. Write it off, this time, to the wine. If it begins to happen again in the future, tell her privately that you are married and have absolutely NO interest in her. Do not be overly concerned about her feelings at that point, because he is attempting to be a homewrecker. Good deal you told you wife up front.
Don't put it on to your wife to handle as one suggested. Bad form, you can do it, I'm sure and it will be more effective "from the horse's mouth" no offense meant LOL

If you meet her again and she tries to pick up where she left off, I'd suggest you firmly tell her in a tactful way that you don't appreciate what she's doing. If you aren't too offended, maybe you can say it in a more "nice" way, but I don't believe in the double standard. I'd more than understand if it made you feel uncomfortable, so I think being forthright w/ her is more than appropriate. If she continues and is forceful, make your point that you don't like her behavior and tell her husband! Better he find out from you than "see" her coming onto you b/c that may be seen as you taking part, not just her forcing herself on you.

If she is a snob when she's sober...well, that's her problem.

Wow, crazy! It's like a movie, only not...a......movie.

Umm I guess you better wait and see if she's in the same mood next time, and let it go until then. And just keep flirting with your wife. And if she does it again... wow, umm, tell her your happily taken and there's only room for one in your world of footsie.

Sounds as if you handled it beautifully! Next time you see her, treat her as if you'd never seen her before. That way, if she wants to start up again, she knows that she really didn't make any kind of great impression, and if she is mortified (as I hope she is), she might be able to convince herself that you've forgotten, or were too drunk yourself to have completely noticed. You sound like a man in a million and your wife sounds like a great lady, too!

I think you did just fine...

It is so key to behave oneself in these corporate situations, this woman is probably dying of embarassment...

Might I say, your wife is a total sport in regard to this situation, some other spouses may not have been as understanding! Kudos to her! And to you!

If she starts this again go find her husband and hang out with him. If she continues...tell HIM, "how about reeling in your wife for me?" It will probably cause a scene at their home afterwards but you owe it to your wife and yourself.
