add shelves/big or small and utilize your wall space. also, get storage in some storage cubbard or cabinet.
hang pots and pans from ceiling on a set up you can purchase from any store. these are neat.
store canisters in your pantry if they are on your countertops now.
good luck on your improvements.

first you have to get rid of all unnecessary items...Pack or give away all doubles, anything you haven't used in the past 6 months, anything you truly don't like but have kept just because. After you have purged then reorganize to suit your tastes and needs....forget convention and go with what makes sense to the way you cook. My sister puts her spices in the drawer by the stove and dishes in low cabinet's and pots & pans in the uppers...she's short and never cooks...my brother is tall and always cooks...it's all about how it makes sense to you. Remember to Keep It Simple.

Put another cabinet in the dining room, or an adjacent room, and load all of your lesser-used pots and pans in it. Just keep those things you use most often in the kitchen, close at hand.
