In response to Michelle about the Pantene. It's not all that bad. And just so you know you need to use a clarifying shampoo once a week no matter which brand, big or small, you use. Shampoo and conditioner all add and leave buildup no matter how long you stand under that shower head. I've tried many different brands from various places, salons and stores.
My mom uses Pantene Complete Moisture. She has waistlength hair and it's colored and her hair looks great. You just have to make sure you get the right kind for your hair, otherwise it'll either have no effect or it'll make your hair greasy. For example, if you have oily skin, then you need a shampoo for normal to oily hair, nothing that is moisturizing otherwise you'll end up with dandruff caused by oil and dead skin buildup. Pantene makes your hair quite shiny, managable and very soft. I have dry hair and I've used the Pantene Relaxed & Natural conditioner and it worked great, I had hardly any static that I'd normally have and my hair wasn't that weighed down from it. And I don't have African-American hair...but it still worked.

Dove intense moisture shampoo/conditioner for dry damaged hair, my hair was never dry or damaged but it is weightless moisturizers won't weigh the hair down and makes my brown hair shiny and healthy. Also use Infusium 23 leave in treatment leaves hair silky the more you use it anyway.

everyone's hair is different so I can't give you exactly what you need cuz I don't know the specifics-like dry-oily, straight-curly, thick-thin...I would go into a salon and ask someone who can see you but here are some I like......redken's extreme shampoo and cond., bumble and bumble gentle shampoo and super rich conditioner, alterna's caviar anti-aging moisturizing shampoo and cond. Just pick some good professional products, that stuff in the store is for the birds!

I've used "Pert Plus" - it's a shampoo/conditioner in one bottle - for years.
Also, a good multivitamin, and/or eating foods with vitamin E oils helps.
One time I had a total stranger at the Post Office compliment me on my shiny, healthy looking hair.

I have brown hair too and even though the john frieda one is good, it only works for about half a bottle, I highly recommend any of the Pantene products, not nesessarily their brunnette one, but the sheer volume or the restoration one. I bet after a week or two you'll know what i mean. and conditioner isn't even necessary, but it's still good

in response of sara - if you go with panteen pro-v you will need a clarifying shampoo about once a week. that shampoo puts waxes in your hair to fill "holes" and "split-ends". it all depends on your hair type. everyone is different. try paul mitchell.
