I am looking for some good audio recording software. I don't need anything fancy, maybe 8 track recording capabilities and good editing. This is a gift for my boyfriend, and I only have $30-$75 to spend. I am looking at either Cake Walk v 4.0 or Sony Acid Music Studio 6 Software now. Does anyone have any input about those or do you have any others to recomend.

He already has Creative Wave Studio and wants something a little more advanced.

The Sony Acid MS 6 is good, simply because Sony also made Acid Wav, and Soundforge. Both are excellent programs, Acid Wav is outdated, so you can go with the Music Studio 6. Cakewalk, I used that years ago to record some guitar I play to the computer. Cakewalk is a bit more advanced because it acts more like a digital recorder, and not so much as simple recording software. You can use Cakewalk, but it'll be more expensive I would think, plus figuring out Cakewalk is a bit more difficult than the Sony brands.
