cremation. It is actually illegal in most states to bury your pet in your backyard, but obviously is not really enforced and most people are not even aware of it. Vets offer to have a pet cremated and you have the option to get the remains back if you want them.

Cremation and they can give you the ashes in a box. I know some people that are really paranoid about the cremation. Some people say that, um, the animals are all cremated together on the same day and they ashes you get are a mix of your pet and others. Someone I know asked to actually witness the cremation so that he could be sure he got his dogs ashes. He did. I could never do that though.
I took my cat home from the vet after he passed away. I wanted to bury him in my moms backyard out of state (I live in NYC). I stored my cat in my boyfriends freezer for a few days. We then packed him in ice in a big cooler (it was July) and drove 2 hours to my moms house so I could bury him in the backyard.

I have actually had this problem before. Have you thought about cremation? The vet can do this very reasonably. You can keep their ashes in an urn and bury them when you get propery later...like we did. Or, you can create a nice memorial with a photo and and urn. Or, you have the option to take the ashes and place them somewhere that your pet would like. Like we live on the shores of Lake Superior in MI and we put them on the beach...kinda nice. Good luck

Cremation, and keep the ashes. I've also heard of people going to a taxademy and getting the cat stuffed and keep him/her that way. or there is always the option of a pet cemetary.

I live in an apartment and have recently had a beloved pet cremated. I have his remains in an urn, which will be buried with me when I pass away.

When my dad's dog died, he had him cremated. Maybe that's something you want to look into? I know that he talked to his vet about it and then the vet took care of all the arrangements. I live in an apt. and when I had to have my cat put down, I buried her in my mom's backyard.

There are pet crematoriums in most larger cities. You can even get a private cremation, and you'll get back your pet's ashes in a nice little urn.
