i like totaly want to be a actress / singer but i dont know how to get recognised? how can you without lots of money and a strict mom living in the middle of the states? someone HELP?

Hey, what's up! Well, I'm an actress living in LA. I'm originally from Michigan, I've always wanted to act, too. So, at 17...I packed up and moved here. I'm 20 now. If you feel you need to act RIGHT NOW in Hollywood...you can do a couple of things. First off, you need some type of acting experience..whether from school or local community stuff. If you don't have it, don't worry....go to a book store, look for acting monologue books...memorize a couple of the scenes and get them down pat. Then, try to get some headshots. If you have a good resolution camera you can take them yourself, but be aware it needs to be black and white, little to no natural make-up, shoulders and above, 8x10 in size and you will need to go to a camera place to have them copy your picture and add a border with your name on it. All actors need agents to go to auditions, no matter how famous you are. Agents only take appointments if they are interested in you. YOU DO NOT PAY ANYONE-AGENT OR MANAGER-UPFRONT. They ONLY get paid if you get paid, remember that! Many agencies accept demo reels, which are tapes or dvds of all your performances on one disc/tape. If you don't have any performances recorded, take a video camera and record your monologue in good light, no distracting clutter or objects in the background. ONLY send tapes to agencies that are SAG affiliated. SAG is the actors union. This is EXTREMLY important. SAG stands for Screen Actors Guild. You can find a list of SAG legitimate agents on their website at www.sag.com They also have a FAQ section about how to become a professional actor and they include many resources and links. Depending on the size of the city where you live, many restaurants and Bistros have a piano and singer perform for customers.
Ask friends and family if they are familiar with such venues, or, drive around your city and look at the billboards in front of the restaurants.

If you mean musical theater you probably want to get involved with some nearby church plays. You could also attend performing arts schools or colleges. Or promote your self by writing your own plays and songs, (preferably musical monologues) voluntarily perform them at a elementary school or church. Eventually write musical theater plays and get other people to fill roles. Just be self motivated by composing your own stuff and people will be impressed and want to join you,
