I'm baking home-made sugarcookies with my girls. I wanted to decorate the cookies, so I purchased Gel food Colors. There's no instructions in the box at all except for how to dye eggs. The instructions on the back really don't say much..What do I do now? Do I just decorate the cookies after they're baked with the coloring? Or do I mix the coloring in first, and then bake? This is my first time decorating with food coloring. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks a million!

On the front of the box there's cookies that look like they have been decorated (outlined) in gel food coloring, and the cookies have been dyed.

It works best if you make a thin icing and color it with the gel.

Just use a toothpick, dip into the dye, then into your white icing. (Maybe a coffee-cup full of icing). Stir well. Add more dye until you reach the desired intensity. Then spread on cookies or fill a decorating bag w/ the icing.

I suppose you could also dye your cookie dough, but I'd rather just dye the icing, myself.

Put the food coloring in the mix first but - only a drop or two at a time and stir until you reach your desired color. You may also want to seperate your dough into different bowls if you want different colors. Good luck

To dye the whole cookie, you should put food coloring into the batter before you bake it. You'll have to really mix it up, but definitely do it before you bake.

While blending / mixing your cookie dough batter, that is when you stir and blend in the coloring dye. Keep stirring batter till all blended. Enjoy.
