I'm not sure what is wrong, all I know is that I have a connection. My family is using a cable internet connection. (roadrunner) We also use wireless internet, my computer HAS A CONNECTION, but the software/hardware is not working, I am using another cpu to do this. All I need to know is where I can get new software/hardware that will ALLOW me to USE the internet.

I have an internet connection, I just can't use it.

Honestly, its your question that is not working. What you SHOULD be asking is why internet explorer is giving you a server not found error. There are many many steps in checking or troubleshooting this...

My recommendation to you is to open the network troubleshooter built into windows (I assume you have windows - you havent said). From your start button, click help. Type "network troubleshooter" in the search box. Do what it says and dont skip anything. If you dont understand what it is telling you to do, then you should probably seek professional help.

I dont get it. What do you mean by software that lets you use the internet? If you have the internet service then you need the dsl/cable modem. Thats hardware and thats something you get from your ISP (Internet Service Provider)

You didn't say if you were using dial up, DSL or other connections. We need more information to help you. What operating system are you running? etc.
