The flu and colds are more common in the winter months because that is when the viruses spread across the country. It has nothing to do with being outside in cold weather.

It's because in cold weather, people tend to cluster together indoors a lot more frequently, giving the viruses that cause colds an opportunity to spread more quickly. Viruses don't care what the weather is like -- they just like having lots of human hosts to spread them around.

I've heard before that cold weathers lowers the count or effectiveness of your white blood cells. Plus, people tend to spend more time congregated close to each other in indoor places when it's cold out, and that spreads disease easier.

it's usually where it's cold and the reason is...is that when it's cold outside alot of people gather together indoors like stores, churches, and other crowded places and then the cold virus spreads..whereas in the summer you're outdoors alot and very few people shop and go to church...so it's because of the high concentration of people indoors and the cold virus and how it spreads.
