Great question. No. I have used this product for learning Arabic! Then I went to Egypt. I was in this country for 4 months to learn modern standard Arabic and colloquial Arabic. This product is only moderately use-full. In the end it is more confusing than for real. I have Rosetta Stone for German and have yet to use it. Maybe it is better in regrades to European languages but for Arabic it is ridiculous. One of my Professors - a Polish native with four languages under his belt including Japanese - did not learn much from Rosetta Stone. - and was frustrated from it. Most of the good things I have heard are from people learning European languages. Well I hope that I have been helpful

I've used Rosetta Stone for german, and it's okay. It's not really the best thinig as people say it is. Rosetta Stone is good for PRACTICING what you know already. It doesn't tell you grammer rules, or WHY something is like this, or why it's suppose to be like this and not that. xD The whole point of rosetta stone is to sort of immerse yourself in the language. So, all you hear is THAT language, and you're suppose to "pick it up faster". I think, you should get an italian grammer book that explains the italian language, and use what you know when using rosetta stone. FOR EXAMPLE: italian (like many romance languages) have genders for each noun. But rosetta stone won't tell you that. They'll just give you the word with the gender along with it. =) Ermmmmmmmmmm...............yup. Rosetta stone teaches words like, "mom, girl, boy," and telling time. and saying things like, "the boy is jumping. the girl is running." and.. they go over food, shapes, colors...etc. You probably won't learn things like, "can I help you?" "I would like......"

My boss has this. Personally, it does not seem like my style of learning a language. The system has you look at pictures and videos and then has you repeat the Spanish. IMO, this might work for young children who are just learning language to begin with, but not so much an adult. I think the system would be good, but it would probably work better if you got a foundation in the language first, from something like Berlitz.

No. You can't learn a language with this program. It teaches basic vocabulary, mostly objects, and some simple actions like walking or running. A friend bought the first disc and did all the lessons. Then she went to Germany and couldn't say a word or even understand. I speak German fluently and when I talk with her she does not understand me and she can't communicate at all. It's a total waste.

My brother purchased this program before interning at a German engineering firm this summer. He is in his third year of college, and is so advanced in his study of German that they have to create special class sections for him! He used the program through his university and liked it so much he purchased a copy for himself. He is nearly fluent. It was highly recommended by his professor.
Worth a try!
