I think rubbing a dogs face into the mess is very cruel so please don't respond with that.Would a puppy training device help with an older dog?I don't think it's a health issue a she time sher pee-pee party at such weird times, when we're home and we never catch her doing it.She also jumps up on the kitchen table when we are there and has no qualms about jumping up on other furniture,She was rescued from a "crack house",in south central.los angeles. No rules there probably,,,

Dogs truly respond to consistency and praise in training them to do most anything. Potty training is that way. If your dog has been in a place where she had to fend for herself, then she would have developed bad habits and you will have to re-train her to do what you want her to do. Begin by taking her outside at regular intervals, which should be at least once an hour to begin with. Make sure you take her out after she eats and right before bedtime. Praise her when she does her business outside then promptly bring her back in. She will soon get the message. As for jumping up on counters, as soon as you catch her up there, take her by the collar and look her in the eye and give her a stern "no" followed by "down" and help her down from her perch. Once she is on the floor, praise her and then walk away. As long as you are giving her the attention she needs everyday, plus the exercise and grooming she needs, she will eventually only want to please you. Have patients with her and she will be your best friend in no time!
