Hi Betty Boop. The Soul and Spirit are the same. The Ghost you are refering to is the Holy Ghost that is Jesus Christ.

At the time of physical death, there is a seperation of the soul from the body. For the person who has been saved, at the moment of their salvation they received a new resurrected soul. This soul (upon the death of their body) goes into Heaven to be with Jesus Christ. Then, on the last day, these souls along with Jesus will return and receive their resurrected bodies.

For those who are not saved (upon the death of their body), their soul also leaves but instead of going into Heaven it goes to a place of silence. There it remains in darkness and silence until the last day when Jesus returns and then all of the unsaved will be judged and cast into Hell.

hi Betty, it depends on what is your belief system.

The buddhist believes that there is a soul and body but no spirit. Therefore when a person dies he/she reincarnates. Sometimes if you live a terrible past live, you can reincarnate as an animal because buddhist believes that an animal also has a soul and a body.

The Christian believes that there is a body, soul and spirit. 3 different entities. The soul comprises of the intellect, the will and the emotions. The spirit is you. They dont believe in ghosts, they would say that those are evil spirits or demonic spirits(That is their way of saying its a demon or fallen angel)

The Muslims and Jews believe somewhat the same as Christians.

The hindus believe like the buddhist and in reincarnation too.

The Atheist ...hmmm.... i dun think they believe in those stuff because they were made from the big bang... and everything just happens ...and then evolution.... and then man....

The wiccans... i dont know how they see it... but they believe that ghost are the spirits of our decease love ones and then there are demons which is different from Ghosts.

Hope this helps

Yes, people will be confused if they make their own interpretation to what the Bible says.
The account of the Bible about the creation of man is like this:

7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. (Genesis 2:7)

Other translation says< and man became a living soul.>
The word "soul" is sometimes used interchangably with the word "person" or "beings/people". for instance when we say
Today we have 12 sould baptized into the church, we do not mean just "spirits or ghosts" but complete human being, or a living creature.

When the "breath of life" came out of man, the opposite process happen. Man became a dead piece of earth, because without the breath of life, the person is returning to its origin, which is dust. When Jesus comes back again, He will resurrect the bodies who are now sleeping in the dust. The breath of life will enter the dust again by God's creative power, and be resurrected as living souls or living beings. There are no such thing as the ghost or the spirit of the death as a conscious entity. Although Satan and his evil angels can imitate or impersonate our dead friends or relatives.
The bible clearly says that when the dead man depart from this world, he lie down to sleep in the dust, and does not have any feeling, thought, hatred, love or knowlege. He can not return to life again.

5 For the living know that they will die;
But the dead know nothing,
And they have no more reward,
For the memory of them is forgotten.
6 Also their love, their hatred, and their envy have now perished;
Nevermore will they have a share
In anything done under the sun. ...
10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.
Ecclesiaster 9:5, 6, 10

Ghost is the same as spirit (of life), just an older word like in the KJV:

Mark 15:37 (King James Version)
37And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.

Soul on the other hand is a word, at least in a biblical sense, meaning the combination of the body or flesh and the spirit (of life). However, in contemporary English soul is often used to mean the same thing as spirit.

A soul and a spirit are indeed 2 separate entities, according to the Bible. Also according to the Bible there is a Holy Ghost who lives in us (us meaning Christians). I'm not sure of the difference between the soul and the spirit, but the Holy Ghost is God.

A spirit or soul is what makes you, ultimately, alive. When you die, it is your spirit or soul that goes to the after life (depending what you believe). A ghost is like an imprint left behind, sometimes made of energy, but never really a soul. Like a recording that keeps playing.

Unfortunately it is difficult to answer this question because it is a personal experience. However though meditation can you discover the answer for yourself and this provides the most effective answer.

Soul... the spark of life from the ALL, it is in every particle.
Spirit... is that with which you do things, with good or with evil and everything in between.
Ghost... is a spirit of good or evil... God’s spirit is the good.
what Ghosts live in you?

some people use the term soul and spirit interchangably.

a ghost is a spirit that hasn't moved on. this is the oversimplified version of the whole thing, but thats the general idea.

I don't fully understand this either, but I know it exists. I think you describe it well. I think the ghost is the spirit or soul. I believe there are only two.
