I don't think it's bad, not at all.... but you should not move too far awy from his mother, if she is involved in his life at all. Sounds like a dead beat mom to me. Not fun for the little guy. Don't worry about what others think so much, do what's right for you and your family. You have already done something incredible by fighting for the well-being of your child. Happy thoughts for you!

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE FATHER HAVING CUSTODY!!!
You sound like a good father, and there is NOTHING wrong with you getting custody!! (This is coming from a female, mind you.)
Believe it or not, the mother is NOT the only important person in a child's life, and I'm SO tired of the courts being biased to the mother!!!

,dont group all women into that catagory,i dont feel that way...whoever is the better parent for the child should get custody...society seems to think that a child Needs a mom and a dad is expendable, and sadly society also thinks why would a dad want custody..mothers are seen as being home baking cookies while the dad is out making money and such

regrettably, i think of your right. Society seems down on women who have not got custody of their infants. " She could be a foul mom." i think of that if a woman won't be able to handle custody and finished time care of her infants as properly because of the fact the daddy can handle it, that mom could provide the daddy custody. men and females the two could think of of what's in the suitable interest of the new child and be trustworthy with themselves. perhaps if society would not look down on women giving up custody then it may be much less confusing to make the suitable determination. now and back Dad is in simple terms extra helpful for the new child, that would not make mom undesirable.

CONGRATULATION/// but I don't think all women agree with
your statement.
It's best for a child to have two parents that love, nourish and
protect them, but if one is better fit than the other well they should
certainly obtain custody. In this case u were proven to be the
better parent......and more men should step up and do the same.
I hope the mom is able to balance her life in the future and come
forward to help with the children and u should really encourage
that relationship. In the meantime u should certainly be able
to collect child support from your ex. Equal right.....good luck

I'm a mother of three and a i don't think that the mother should always get the children. they should go to the most responsible parent that can continue to provide that child with stability. And not causing that child anymore hurt that may have come for a custody battle.

Whoever said that it's wrong for a father to raise his children... they are freaks and don't know what they are talking about.
Regardless of the sex of a child a father plays a very important role in there lives and the most important thing is for the child to be with the most stable and loving parent... so they can grow up to be a productive and caring adult... good luck with your kids and ignore what others think...

That should not look good to the judge if the mamma does not show up for court, I am a mother, if I didnt have a angels around I would not know what to do. I would fight tooth and nail for my babies. But I would want then to also have there dad in their life. It is important for a child to have both parents in their life, thats saying both parents are suitable. Kids are wonderful to have, horrible to have to fight over.

They don't all think that way. Many fathers are the better parent depending on the situation. Thankfully, judges are much more open-minded than years ago and fathers are now getting much deserved custody. Kudos to you!

who said it is so bad. i personally think the person who is the most responsible and able to support the the child lovingly and emotionally should be the parent. i don't see how people think the only one that can raise a child is the mother. CONGRATS for stepping up to the plate to accept your responsibilty good luck to you both.
