First off, No kids, arms or legs...

Just kidding, i have two of my own... There really is no special diet for any breed of dog. There are specialty blends which help promote strength and agility. Try looking at local feed stores.

By the way Psycmixer,

Purina DOES contain all of those horrific ingredients. It has been proven that low quality companies...Purina being one of them, use meats from rendering plants.

These rendering plants accept euthanized animals from the vets, farms (all inclusive of tumors, chemicals, collars, etc), expired grocery store meats, restaurant fats, roadkill (wonder who picks up the porcupines off the road?), and any other source of dead or diseased animals. The rendering plant than mixes and sells the 'meat' to pet food companies including Purina, Pedigree, Ol Roy, Science Diet, and all grocery store brands, etc.

This is not a sick rumour, it is the horrible truth. If you actually took five minutes to learn about pet foods you would know that it is people like you that are the only reason these companies still exist.

So the next time you see a food with the ingredient 'meat' or 'animal' I hope you realize that you are feeding your dog the above horrible ingredients.

And to Indy5Brad....

'Meal' is a complete different term from 'meat'. You WANT to see lamb meal, chicken meal, turkey meal, as the first ingredients in a food. The term Meal ONLY means that the water has been taken out....which means your dog is actually getting MORE high quality protein. Cheap companies will put chicken as the first ingredient and corn as the second but because the chicken still has water in it there is actually more corn in the food than chicken.

PLEASE PEOPLE DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE MAKING SUCH COMMENTS.

And to answer your question...the highest quality food on the market right now is made by Natura (www.naturapet.com). They produce Innova, Evo, California Natural and Karma. These are the best foods on the market. Just look at the ingredients:
Turkey
Chicken
Chicken Meal
Ground Barley
Ground Brown Rice
Potatoes
Natural Flavors
Ground White Rice
Chicken Fat
Herring
Apples
Carrots
Cottage Cheese
Sunflower Oil
Alfalfa Sprouts
Egg
Garlic

First off, you dont have a "pitbull" (APBT) what you have is an American Bully. The "Gotti" line is nothing more than a horribly bred dog. However, you have her and Im sure you love her just the same so I would suggest feeding her a high quality food such as Blue Buffalo, Wellness, Evo, Innova, etc...your going to want a good food that will actually nourish your puppy. Stay away from brands such as Purina, Pedigree, Iams, Science Diet, etc...Also, if her parents seemed to be healthy looking I would suggest a trip to your vet just to make sure your little girl isnt carrying any parasites or have anything else going on.

dont feed puppy blends. the protein in the formula will cause the dog to grow more rapidly that his little joints can handle, leading to things like hip dysplasia and arthritis.. Go for an all life stages food such as Canidae, Wellness or Merrick. You dont have to worry about switching foods later when they get older, blah blah.

Feeding them a better quality kibble saves you money! They eat less because there are very very little or none by products (heads, feet, tails, necks) or fillers (corn, wheat) that do nothing for the dog nutritionally. The number one allergy agent in dog food is corn. Second between wheat and beef. Most good quality kibbles will have NO corn in them at all.

If you have a Pet Supplies Plus or a PetCo, try there first. If not, PetSmart sells Blue Buffalo dog food which is a really good food for the price.

When feeding any puppy, a good quality all-life stages food is the best option to go with. The reason behind this is that it has all the nutrients needed for the dog throughout a lifetime. Canidae and Merrick (preferably Canidae) make excellent foods.

You can also suppliment your puppy with fish oil, vitamin E and cottage cheese. These will help with the nutritional portions in a diet.

Any diet that has corn listed in the first 5 ingredients (especially if you can buy it at a grocery store!) is absolute JUNK.

A well-trained dog makes everyone happy, including his owner. Take a little time training him, and you'll never regret it; you'll always have an obedient dog by your side. Find more https://tinyurl.im/BM74a

By their nature, dogs are pack animals with a well-defined social order. Through basic training, you need to consistently make sure your puppy understands that you are the leader, not him. So in teaching him the basic rules, you take on the role of pack leader.

To fit into the family circle, your dog must be taught to recognize his name and such commands as come, heel, lie down and sit.

Dog Training is all about getting your canine to behave well, but some people do it for sports and other entertainment purposes. Some of the other reasons people train their dogs are:

It rewarding since you get a sense of accomplishment once a dog can do something new.
It is a good opportunity to bond with the dog - this is important for the dog and for the owner.
You can make money when you train dogs as a business or for sport.
Training the dog is fun and it challenges the owner and the dog.
Different trainers have different techniques for training their canine. However, some techniques are more effective than others. To learn about the best techniques, visit a registered dog trainer, talk to a veterinarian, or do online or offline research.
There are several types of training that you, or a professional, can explore to train dogs and these are:

1) Behavior and obedience training: One training that is universal is behavior and obedience training. This is done on dogs of all ages, but it is better to start when the canine is a puppy because as they say, it is hard to teach old dogs new tricks. Behavior and obedience dog trainingbrings out the best in the dog and it makes understanding each other easier.

2) House training: House training is very important and it should also start when the dog is still a puppy. House training is all about training the dog to have house manners and to respect your space. There are several techniques used for this and they include crate training and pad training for training the dog to 'go' outside.

3) Positive reinforcement: Positive reinforcement is a new type of training approach and it is all about rewarding the dog for good behavior or for learning a new trick. All animals tend to perform better when there is a promise of a reward. Possible rewards are snacks, interaction with other dogs, giving the dog your attention, or giving the dog tug toys - the reward should take into consideration what the dog likes because dogs are different.

4) Negative reinforcement: Negative reinforcement training approach has been used for many years where the dog is punished for failure to learn or to behave properly, but this does not work because it only makes the canine scared and causes it to lose confidence. Negative reinforcement techniques included beatings and electric shocks.

5) Trick training: Trick training is done for fun, by those who want a sports dog, and those involved in other entertainment activities such as the circus. You should choose the dog carefully to avoid frustration because some dogs are easier to train than others.

6) Teething: It is important to train dogs when they are teething because they are under a lot of pain and they usually chew on furniture such as table legs, shoes, and even wallpaper. Possible training techniques for discouraging the chewing are bad-smelling sprays on items that are at risk and giving the dog chew toys.

7) Command training: It is possible to train dogs to follow commands. These commands include 'sit', 'attack', and 'fetch', among others. This requires patience and there are various techniques of dog training that can be used to achieve this such as giving rewards.

Puppy food. There are certain vitamins, calories, and nutrients that puppies need and are only available in puppy food. Also, always do dry, crunchy food from the start. The problem with the moist/wet foods is that it's not good for the teeth. The key to healthy teeth is feeding your dog the hard crunchy food which most dogs turn their noses to. But if you do it from the start, your dog will just become used to it. Good Luck!

Personally I feed an all-raw prey-model diet, it seems to be the best for my dog and cats, its cheap to feed, and everyone eats it up!

If you don't feel comfortable feeding raw food, then go with a high quality (like Solid Gold, or Caninade), not one like Iams, Purina, Science Diet, etc. Those are totally garbage and contain mostly grains (dogs cannot digest grains), and the meat products that are in them are made up of euthanized dogs and cats, tumors from commercially raised livestock, chicken feathers, spoiled meat from grocery stores (styrofoam and plastic wrap included).

So for the sake of your dog, feed either a raw diet, or a high quality kibble.
