It seems like your dog is questioning your pack leader authority. You need to reassert your position on him. Calm assertiveness works quite well.

This is out of character for a Labrador retriever. Check the dog for an injury or other reason that it may be experiencing some pain. A vet could help with an examination and possibly advice on how best to proceed. Hope this helps.

Sounds like time for a check up at the vet then to Dog school. He needs to be taught to behave properly before something bad happens.

Sounds like theres some issues or insecurities hes developed somehow. I would consult a behaviorist. They can tell you whats going on and give you ways to help him. He needs a professional.

If he really wanted to hurt you he probably would have. He could be sick or in pain. Take him to the vet and make sure he is ok. Make sure they check his teeth. My sister had a grumpy chow and it turned out to be a toothache.
If he is not sick then talk to a behaviorist, it could be something really simple and easy to fix.

Dominant and aggressive behavior. Your dog may love you but he doesn't respect you as alpha. Read this and regain your status. Your dog is feeling insecure trying to be the boss -- you can change that around -- http://www.leerburg.com/aggresiv.htm

There are many resons why your dog could act this way.
1. Maybe he is sick. Sometimes dogs get aggresive when they are sick.
2. You need to show him who is boss!
