I am worried about my reputation at this job and also worried about being able to get another job. I work for a union in healthcare setting. I have a good rapport with everyone but my boss only has bad things to say.

Thats called life.I have had some weird boss's. you must learn to forgive.take a good b vitamin complex .for stress.valerian root is good for stress. take 3 tablets before you go to bed.smile at him any way.. be in the world but not of the world. Life is a learning process.if you can learn from this you will be a better person for it.try to put what he says out of your mind. you know you dont desearve what he says. Good luck. and I hope you have a very Merry Christmas..

As long as you have a good repport with everyone else stay.
Mental health-wise I think it may be difficult to get a stress leave.

You would need a doctor to recommend in writing

But the most difficult thing I've read others say
the employer always seems to walk on eggshells around someone who has been declared 'stressed'

Not to mention your problem will still be there
when you return

I'd vote for counseling
a good therapist can help you thru this time
