i'm trying find someone that is in jail but i forgot his last name

You can try "Judicial Records Search" type that in your search window and go from there or you can try www.vinelink.com its gonna be tough to do without a last name. If you can get a case # it might help. good luck

Not sure about any other ways, but if you call the institution where inmate is incarcerated, they probably will not give you any info about the inmate's location, even if you know everything about him. Last summer, after I was released, I called the centre from where I had recently been released to obtain paper records for the time that I had been incarcerated (which I needed in order to change my return plane ticket home as proof that I couldn't make it to the originally scheduled flight). They said they wouldnt do anything because I might be a terrorist or something and they had no idea to verify who I really was.

for a federal search, check www.bop.gov
if you are looking in a state database then google your states offender tracking or state prison website. For Michigan it is Offender Tracking Information System. You can search those by first name and do an all offender search.
