For $200 I think the answer is Thread-If you take one letter from the next word you can construct another word- ail+n=nail,not+r=torn,row+n=worn,inch+o=chino,lover+c=clover,thread+l=0,thread+o=0,thread+v=0,thread+e=0,thread+r=0

um inch because ail sounds like ale which you drink wiht your lover, sometimes you and a lover get in a row or a fight, you might say you are haning by a thread, um not is another negative word...... and inch is just a measurment?????????
if it is not inch I would say lover because as someone pointed out it is 2 sylaables when everything else isnt
