For one thing, congrats on going into the Army, that's a good start. Second, if your going to or want to become a cop, you will be doing a lot of report writing, which means the things or images you see on t.v. is not real life, meaning you need to bone up on your grammar. Third, if the department your looking has a SWAT team, then they have a selection process to bring regular street cops on that specialized unit. And again, your not getting on that unit with that type of grammar. And last, having military in you back ground shows that you are disciplined enough to handle situations of life and death and are able to follow orders in a para military organization as a police department.
Good luck in the military.

First, stay away from the BS. Graduate High school. Do the military. It can't hurt and most likely will help greatly. Most depts love people with military experience. Police depts are paramilitary and are run like the military. The discipline and training will help you imensely. As far as salaries, they are all over the scale. Some small depts anly pay the low 20,000 others like here in NY pay well over 100,000 a year. All depends on the area. As far as SWAT, every dept has its own requirements and what they call it. usually you need a few years, and once again, the military helps. If you do join the military, take advantage of as much RELEVANT training as possible. Be a MP, go ranger or jump school. Become a medic. Things that will help you after the army. Good luck.

If you are a cop in the Army it might help more. It helps but not as much as you might think. Cops don't make squat! lol. You will always be asking is it worth it, and I don't know about swat. I look at swat as a special forces of law enf. All of depends on where and what agency you end up with. Good Luck and thanks for wanting to serve.. :o)
