I think you should move to another town so your son can escape the horrible friends, family, and thugs who likely live in your area and go to his school. The very idea of smoking is and has always been abhorent to me. People who smoke are weak, reckless, foolish people who want to die, but don't have the guts to face death RIGHT NOW and off themselves properly. You quit smoking, but did you teach your son the value of life, that his only value is the product of his mind and effort, to face the world for what it is, not succumb to mysticism and the unjust use off force, to overcome his past by admiting his hurt, forgiving others, letting go of anger and beginning to find and follow his interests and passions in life, toward the goal of making money for himself, to earn what he wants in life?

First of all, no, that's not the reason your son thinks smoking is cool. I smoke, I have five children. All of them are at me constantly to quit. Then again, like a good parent should do, I've informed them that I'm an idiot for starting such a ridiculous addiction. I made sure they understood that this is not a choice a sane person makes anymore, especially not with the medical advancements and what we know about smoking now.
And yes, for the record, I am quitting.
Now, why does he think it's cool? Because society makes it look cool. His friends likely do, as well. Peer pressure is an amazing thing.
As for your solution, think about this. Would you light a building on fire to show your son that arson is wrong? Would you smash a dish on the floor to teach him not to break things? Would you ram your car into a tree to teach him to drive safely?
No? Then why on earth would you give him a cigarette to show him that smoking is dangerous?

Well do what you think is right, you could take the risk of giving him cigarrettes, there is a good chance it would work but then again he could get addicted or even liek it. Showing him pictures and talkign to him about it honestly won't help. As a child of today's world, we get all the information we need about why smoking is bad, in schools on tv everywhere you look. We klnow its bad and what could happen if we do it. So i doubt that would do anything. have you ever thought he is doing it just to p*ss you off and worry you. it is a possibility. Taking him to a rehab center could possibly work. but really the decision is up to you.

Almost all those who doesnot obey the orders of elders;but scan their action!Smoking tobacco is addictive and wonder after 20 years you are able to quit it! It's good if you can quit it because of your son !Have you consider how much damaged done to your son so far by second hand smoke? If you wanted to smoke don't throw it to teach him but try to coughing as much as you can continuously, unless he comes to you and say Mom why can't you stop this smoking?

If you want to teach him that smoking is not good instead of giving him a ciggerette give him a cigar. Tell him if he can manage to finish the entire cigar off in front of you without butting it out then you will allow him to smoke ciggarettes. If you tell him hes not allowed to smoke you know he is most likely to do it behind your back. Trust me use the ciar instead of the cigarette.

I dont know, he's pretty young and can get alil sick from it but what the heck, if he thinks its so cool then maybe you should go with your plan, he would smoke it, dislike it, and never try it again because it made him feel so horrible. THEN if that dont work tell him if he smokes like you did and didnt stop he would die, also show him pictures of diseased lungs and be like thats what an unhealthy lung looks like, keep smoking and you'll have alot of medical problems and last but not least try to get your kid in programs like DARE to keep him out of making the wrong choices :)
& thats wat u should doâ¥âº

NO. Eleven is so young. Talk to him and tell him everything and anything negative about smoking. Contact the American Cancer Society, American Lung Association, Heart, American Medical, and ask for information to back you up. All are online. Do it calmly and with love. Give him the facts, not a cigarette.

No. What you need to do is get pictures of peoples lungs and diseases that come with smoking. A friend of mine just lost half with jaw and check to cancer from smoking. The consequences are real.

I think you need to take him to the Oncology unity and introduce him to some lung cancer patients or maybe some emphysema patients and see what he thinks about smoking then but I wouldn't give him a cigarette b/c that tactic might back fire on you
