This morning as I was cracking walnuts, I noticed an insignia individually stamped in red ink on the shell of each walnut. It said "Diamond" and had a little design underneath..what does this mean and/or signify? My thoughts were that it could be the name of the farm that produced them, the name of the company, or even the varietal of walnut...thoughts?

The "Diamond" stamp you noticed on the walnuts is the exclusive stamp of Diamond Foods, Inc., a company that has been packaging and selling nuts since 1912. To learn more about them, you can visit their website at www.diamondnuts.com.

Blue Diamond... it's a brand name. They produce nuts, but a whole lot of walnuts, especially.

I would say that it means they have registered them. Like on all products, where the brand name is there is a tiny circle on it with the letter R inside of it. If that is the design that you are talking about.
