My mom rescued a pitbull mix ,really big dog.She is so sweet, but wets the carpets almost every day while mom is home.We have never seen her in the act,and she doesn't do it when we're gone which is weird too.My mom has another rescue dog,Suki, definate alpha dog. They get along great, but Suki is defenatlay the boss.Any ideas on why Rosie pees on the rugs? Thanks in advance.

Maybe she 's not being taken out often enough, if you have a doggie door does she go through it. I would suspect she may have a weak bladder.

As a rescue dog you dont know the sort of treatment and training the dog recieved. It sounds like she is trying to hide it from you which indicates she was probably beaten once for that misdemeanor. Does she ever pee in front of you? If no, then unfortunately thats what has happened(poor baby). Try to catch her in the act of peeing in the right place and praise her, give her treats and love. If the dogs get along and have no aggression with each other then that is not the problem unless rosie is overly submissive which is passive aggressive which means she gets her own way by being no threat for the top dog position. To retrain her not to pee on the rug put a blanket or towel over the rug(just dont trip on it). If she pees on that, over about a month slowly move the towel towards the place where her toilet is. It should work, good luck.

It could be that she was never trained well. We also have a pit bull that we rescued and she goes on the floor alot no matter how much we take her out to go potty. The vet says that she has no physical or medical problems. The only way I can get her to not go on the floor is if she is right by my side or at night or when we leave she still sleeps in her crate. I would ask your vet because there could be an underlying problem. It can get though to deal with, I know! We Have new carpets. But she might just need to be crate trained.

I think that this dog is just marking territory. This is a new dog in a house that already has a dog. The 1st dogs scent is all over the house and the new dog is marking territory regardless of who is alpha. I think that who is there or not there is just coinsidental. You may want to have the dog checked for a uti. Also, if this is a male dog and there is no uti, sometimes getting a dog neutered helps with marking. That isn't a definate fix because some people say it made no difference, but most people say it helps. Good Luck and thank you for saving a dog!

I think she is just marking her territory since she does it while you're home. Usually dogs take about 3 weeks to get adjusted to a new place, especially if there's another dog around.
Be patient...even though it's annoying!

when a dog goes on the carpet or rug it is usually because it is not trained, but when you leave and it does not go then means that the dog is probably doing it on purpose to get attention or to show you something is wrong thanks bye

She is probably trying to show your other dog that she wants to be friends, or that this is her territory too.
She also might be scared or insecure
