I would now not mess around with this. It might not be parvo, but if the canine is already shedding weight then this has been occurring for way too lengthy, regardless of what's causing it. And if it's parvo, this is very deadly but if caught in time will also be cured, in particular in grownup dogs. I'm hoping you're not planning on taking the pup to the vet someday subsequent week. He has received to look a vet very speedily and if he is a young puppy, he needs an emergency vet tonight. The symptoms of parvo don't matter - he wishes a vet both manner.

Parvo is caused by a virus that puppies can get by coming into contact with infected soil or other areas that another infected dog has been. It can live in the soil for over a year. It is very important that you keep your puppy up to date on its vaccines every three weeks until it is 16 weeks old. Also avoid areas that alot of other dogs go to the bathroom etc. The symptoms are vomiting, diarrhea-sometimes bloody, fever and lethargy. It is extremely contagious and very serious. Puppies usually have a 50-50 chance with treatment. Treatment requires I.V. fluids to keep the dog hydrated, antibiotics, and a lot of TLC. It is curable- but the puppy will have to be hospitalized for several days. If your puppy is having any of these symptoms please get to the vet right away- dont wait, the sooner he starts treatment the better off he will be.

i does not play round with this. it can not be parvo, yet when the dogs is already dropping weight then this has been happening for way too lengthy, regardless of what's causing it. And if this is parvo, it is amazingly deadly yet when stuck in time must be cured, somewhat in adult dogs. i wish you do not make plans on taking the doggy to the vet sometime next week. He has were given to ensure a vet very right away and if he's a youthful doggy, he desires an emergency vet this nighttime. the indicators of parvo do not remember - he desires a vet both way.

Here are some sysptoms of Parvo:

You may notice your dog is not playing as much and seems to be lying around a lot more.
Vomiting - The vomit is yellow froth (bile)
Diarrhea - Diarrhea has a very foul odor (worse than any smell you have encountered). It starts out with a yellowish or greenish looking stool then turns into a dark-brown-runny stool.
Depression
Your dog may or may not have a fever
They will dehydrate very quickly becoming skin and bones in a very short time.

Very few dogs survive without intervention of some kind.

Parvo is extremely contagious. It is passed in the feces or vomit of an infected dog. It can be brought into your yard on your tires, on your feet or clothing after handling an infected animal. It can be passed from yard to yard by birds carrying the virus on their feet or people going “kennel-hopping” carrying the virus on clothing or shoes.

Here is a list of options you have in caring for your Parvo infected puppy (there may be other options available):

Veterinarian Care – Your Veterinarian will treat the symptoms of Parvo by giving fluids, supportive care and antibiotics. If your puppy is very ill your veterinarian may suggest that you end your puppies life. (you may opt to give your Vet the Parvaid to use in addition to Veterinarian treatment)
Home care with veterinarian supportive care – It may be an option to treat your puppy at home and transport him or her to the Veterinarian for daily IV fluids.

Canine parvovirus is a particularly deadly disease among young puppies, causing gastrointestinal tract damage and dehydration as well as a cardiac syndrome in very young pups. It is spread by contact with an infected dog's feces. Symptoms include lethargy, severe diarrhea, fever, vomiting, loss of appetite, and dehydration. Mouse parvovirus 1, however, causes no symptoms but can contaminate immunology experiments in biological research laboratories. Porcine parvovirus causes a reproductive disease in swine known as SMEDI, which stands for stillbirth, mummification, embryonic death, and infertility. Feline panleukopenia is common in kittens and causes fever, low white blood cell count, diarrhea, and death. Infection of the cat fetus and kittens less than two weeks old causes cerebellar hypoplasia. Mink enteritis virus is similar in effect to feline panleukopenia, except that it does not cause cerebellar hypoplasia. A different parvovirus causes Aleutian disease in minks and other mustelids, characterized by lymphadenopathy, splenomegaly, glomerulonephritis, anemia, and death. The most accurate diagnosis of parvovirus is by ELISA. Dogs and cats can be vaccinated against parvovirus.

It is caused by a VIRUS. The virus is not cured, it runs its course and the symptoms are treated. Vomiting and diarrhea..sometimes bloody, are the main symptoms. Puppies usually die of dehydration. Very contagious!!!!
