Maybe this is a mistake passed down for many generations and if relgious groups were to admit to it, it would rock the whole fountaiton of the christian world. Here is the thing, why is is it such a big deal if they were seperate people? I'd really like to know. Also, why would Jesus ask himself (if he were God) if there was any other way to get out of being crusified? I do consider myself a Christian, but I have always wondered this. Please don't put me down for asking, instead, give me some good explainations. Thanks.

Instead, of just a NO... how about an answer as to WHY you feel that way.. or is that how you are told that you should feel?

I honestly don't claim to know the answer myself, I just like to question things and I don't see why people get so bent out of shape by this question. You can tell by the anger in some of the responses.

Is it not possible that when the bible says that God and Jesus are one in the same, that it means, of one mind. Jesus always does the will of his father because they both have the same thought process and he knows exactly what God wants.

Last thing... I really appriciate and LOVE the fact that because of Yahoo Answers, I can get many different perspectives. I think that is what God would want.. after all, he doesn't want us to be ignorant. I respect each and every one of your views and don't mean this to offend anyone. Thanks!

Wow I'm not sure why your question got thumbs down, seems genuine and not mean spirited in any way.
I'm pretty sure the Trinity was invented (or decided on) by Catholics hundreds of years after Christ. Could it be wrong? Yes. Is it? Not sure.

The Trinity teaching is "dead" wrong, because if you believe in the Trinity, your "dead" this is the biggest "lie" that Satan uses to keep people from knowing the True God.
‘But isn’t Jesus called a god in the Bible?’ someone may ask. This is true. Yet Satan is also called a god. (2 Corinthians 4:4) At John 1:1, which refers to Jesus as “the Word,” some Bible translations say: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” But notice, verse 2 says that the Word was “in the beginning with God.” And while men have seen Jesus, verse 18 says that “no man hath seen God at any time.” (Authorized or King James Version) So we find that some translations of verse 1 give the correct idea of the original language when they read: “The Word was with God, and the Word was divine,” or was “a god,” that is, the Word was a powerful godlike one. (An American Translation) Clearly, Jesus is not Almighty God. In fact, Jesus spoke of his Father as “my God” and as “the only true God.”
Did Jesus ever say that he was God? No, he never did. Rather, in the Bible he is called “God’s Son.” And he said: “The Father is greater than I am.” Also, Jesus explained that there were some things that neither he nor the angels knew but that only God knew. (Mark 13:32) Further, on one occasion Jesus prayed to God, saying: “Let, not my will, but yours take place.” If Jesus were the Almighty God, he would not have prayed to himself, would he? In fact, following Jesus’ death, the Scripture says: “This Jesus God resurrected.” (Acts 2:32) Thus the Almighty God and Jesus are clearly two separate persons. Even after his death and resurrection and ascension to heaven, Jesus was still not equal to his Father.
As for the “Holy Spirit,” the so-called third Person of the Trinity, this is not a person but God’s active force. John the Baptizer said that Jesus would baptize with holy spirit, even as John had been baptizing with water. Hence, in the same way that water is not a person, holy spirit is not a person. (Matthew 3:11) What John foretold was fulfilled when, following the death and resurrection of Jesus, holy spirit was poured out on his followers gathered in Jerusalem. The Bible says: “They all became filled with holy spirit.” (Acts 2:4) Were they “filled” with a person? No, but they were filled with God’s active force. Thus the facts make clear that the Trinity is not a Bible teaching. Actually, long before Jesus walked the earth gods were worshiped in groups of three, or trinities, in places such as ancient Egypt and Babylon.

Hi,
The Trinity though given separate "labels" (God,the Father and the Holy Spirit) are really one in the same just like you have a body, mind and spirit ( a trinity) yet you are one person. you become a whole person when your body, mind and spirit are in harmony with each other. They never separate from you. they are one and the same. The Trinity is not made up of several people. One entity. now for your second question regarding Jesus. I think your asking why did He not figure out a way to get out of being crucified, correct? if that's your question, here's my answer: He being a very lucid being, chose this path. Before, Jesus walked the Earth, He had a Spiritual contract with God where they both agreed that He (Jesus) would come to Earth (the physical dimension) as a Martyr and leave behind a legacy. And so that was the deal. Hope that answers your questions.
Peace.

First of all, I must clear up a misconception. I am Penetecostal, and I most definitely DO believe in the Trinity.
There is only one God,but in the unity of a Godhead, there are three eternal and co-equal Persons, the same in substance, but distinct in subsistence.
A book has height, width, and length. These three factors cannot be separated, yet they are not the same. The same goes for the Trinity as 3 distinct persons but one God.
The Father chooses who will be saved. (Ephesians 1:4)
The Son redeems them (Ephesians 1:7)
The Holy Spirit seals them. (Ephesians 1:13)
God is our Creator, Jesus is our Savior, and the Holy Spirit is our Comforter. Each One is many things to us,but they are 3 persons in one -God.
An analogy would be time. Time is past, present, and future, but they are not 3 times, only one.
Matthew 28:19 says to baptize in the name of the Father,Son,and Holy Ghost.

The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit were together for an infinite time before the earth was created. The Father sent the Son into the world so that those who believed might be saved. When Jesus was baptized by John, the Holy Spirit descended from heaven in bodily form like a dove onto Jesus. A voice from Heaven said "This is my son in whom I am well pleased." That is a picture of the trinity. God the Son being baptized by John. The Holy Spirit descending on Jesus. God the Father speaking from Heaven.
Jesus asked God the Father if this cup may pass from Him but let your will be done. Jesus knew what was going to happen . Jesus had to take the cup which is the full wrath of God on Himself to pay for the sins of the world. He must do this. Now I don't think He sweat drops of blood because of the severe pain He was about to take through scourging and crucifixion. I believe the great anxiety He felt is that part of the cup of God the Father's wrath included separation from God the Father. Again, remember God the Father and God the Son had never before been separated. They were together in perfect communion for infinity. Until the time in which he must be separated on the cross from God. That is why he said "Father, father why have you forsaken me?" You see, that union was separated for our sins.

The Pentecostal and Apostolic denominations do not believe in the Trinity. They're called the Oneness church. It's just a slightly different perspective, however, as they believe that Jesus is everything, while the majority of the Christian faith believes that God the Father is everything but in the 3 persons of the Holy Trinity.

The trinity concept was made up by the Nicene Council 300 years after Jesus died. The church did a complete revamp of Christianity, to make it more pleasing to people.
The trinity is wrong. There is no G-d but G-d.

If you are a Christian, you should have a Bible and can read these passages for yourself. I will not type them out for you, in the interest of space for other answers. Please read: 1Timothy 3:16, 1John 5:7, Revelation 1:18. These are some of the passages for you to read.
Think of it this way. You have water, ice, and steam-They are all water. Right? You are body, mind, and spirit. The Trinity is the same thing.
Please remember that Satan is the author of confusion. Do not be deceived.

Yes. A Protestant publication states: "The word Trinity is not found in the Bible . . . It did not find a place formally in the theology of the church till the 4th century." (The Illustrated Bible Dictionary) And a Catholic authority says that the Trinity "is not . . . directly and immediately [the] word of God."—New Catholic Encyclopedia.
The Catholic Encyclopedia also comments: "In Scripture there is as yet no single term by which the Three Divine Persons are denoted together. The word [tri'as] (of which the Latin trinitas is a translation) is first found in Theophilus of Antioch about A. D. 180. . . . Shortly afterwards it appears in its Latin form of trinitas in Tertullian."
There is no verse in the Bible that says God is made up of 3 coequal persons.

Christianity isn't the only religion with a triune god.
Brahma is the Hindu god (deva) of creation, and one of the Hindu Trinity - Trimurti, the others being Vishnu and Shiva. He is not to be confused with the Supreme Cosmic Spirit of Hindu philosophy known as 'Brahman' (the root of both words is the same). His consort is given as Saraswati, the goddess of learning. BrahmÄ is also often identified with Prajapati, the Vedic deity.
The Three Pure Ones (Chinese: are three Taoist deities. They are:
the Jade Pure , also known as the "Heavenly Worthy of the Primordial Beginning" .
the Upper Pure, also known as the "Heavenly Worthy of the Numinous Treasure".
the Great Pure, also known as the "Heavenly Worthy of the Way and its Virtue" or the "Exalted Supreme Lord Lao".
Triple Goddess
In ancient Indo-European mythologies, various goddesses or demi-goddesses appear as a triad, either as three separate beings who always appear as a group (the Greek Moirae, Charites, Erinnyes and the Norse Norns) or as a single deity who is commonly depicted in three aspects (The Greek Hecate). Often it is ambiguous whether a single being or three are represented, as is the case with the Irish Brighid and her two sisters, also called Brighid. In most ancient descriptions of Triple Goddesses, the separate deities perform different functions, and can appear as any age they desire
