It varies from person to person, but most well-adjusted people like to drink once in a while because of the happy, tipsy feeling alcohol can give you. It can make it easier to socialize and have fun. Some people feel it helps them relieve stress. Others drink to forget bad things going on in their lives, and that can be dangerous. Alcohol should not be thought of as a cure for anything, but only a "social lubricant" to be used moderately. If someone has an alcohol addiction, they need serious help to overcome it. A good way to start is for them to recognize they have a problem, and to join a local AA chapter.

Alcoholics drink alcohol because they NEED it. Social drinkers are just that. Other people drink just to relax. If you know or are an alcoholic there are many places in the phone book to get help. Start with calling your local hospital. They will refer you or the person addicted to the proper place for help. Good Luck.

People want to drink alcohol for a number of reasons. To relax, to feel better, to fight shyness, to be merry, to forget a bad relationship, to get high and have fun, to settle some business with someone who has done something to them. Sort of to get the courage, to celebrate birthdays, holidays, Christmas, New Year, Easter, Fourth of July, to take advantage of someone vulnerable,

The addiction CAN be given up. With a lot of determination and more often than not, it happens when the person has lost everything, job, home, relationships, etc... Then one good way is to join a support group to stop the merry-go-around ! A good group is well-known. AA. and they have meetings everywhere.
Good luck to whoever you know that has that problem. However, there is hope! A lot of people succeed in stopping it. Some say it's easier than to stop smoking!.

Some people drink alcohol because they like it and it does taste good. Some people just don`t know how to handle it and they drink to much. A drink now and then for those who like it is fine. I t boost the ego and makes some think they can fight the world and win, these are the idiots

People do it to relax and become more out going. Yes, it could become addictive. In that case A.A. is the most successful program at total abstinance. Anybody can do it but you have to want to and work at it. Total honesty is a must.

I hated it when I was a teenager. Everytime I drank I got sick. But it was what everyone else was doing, so I kept on doing it. After a while (years) it wasn't so bad anymore. Matter of fact it was kind of fun. Then it took over my life. I finally crashed. I still drink. But now I can control it. HeHeHe...

Most people drink just to drink, the taste, the buzz, or because they just wanna party.

I drink because I enjoy the taste. I'll admit I do enjoy the buzz. However, I very rarely get drunk.
