SO, i have had my cat for 1 year and she is really sweet. lately though, she has been yowling non-stop! At night she yowls, in the morning she yowling and random times.. like when i'm watching TV. I cant decide if she want attention or if shes in heat! shes an indoor cat ( although shes gotten out once or twice) so im pretty sure shes not pregnant. What should I do about my Kitty?!?

They do yowl when they are in heat....you really should get her fixed. You can definitely tell if they are in heat if she is backing her butt up to you. Take her to the vet. You should fix her regardless if she is an indoor cat.

Why haven't you had her spayed?

She is not pregnant if she is yowling. In the cat world the proper term is calling. She is calling to males to mate with her and she will do this for between 4 and 7 days every month, until you take her to the vets to be spayed, as you cannot be trusted to make sure she is kept indoors.

My cat is 7 1/2 months old and was spayed at 6 months. She yowls non-stop for no particular reason (and she's a grey tabby, not a Siamese). Fed - check, litter box clean - check, played with - check, offered treats - check. She even yowls when the dogs bowls are empty. She yowls when we go to bed (when she is in the room with us), yowls at 3:00 a.m., yowls when hubby's alarm goes off. I love her dearly, but she's about to drive me nuts! I'm just hoping she'll outgrow it.....

Sometimes they do that when they are in heat. Sometimes they do that whenn they are trying ot gt your attntion for some reason.

ONe day many years ago when I yet had a cat, she started 'yowling. She was in the kitchen, and I in the back of the house. I came in to see what the nonstop yowling was about. She was standing beside a big fat rat she had killed. I suppose she wanted me to see it and praise her, which is exactly what I did.

Natural hunters, ya know.'

Is it a high-pitched wah-wah-wah? Is she crawling along the floor like she can't get up and walk... or rubbing her rear end on anything and everything? If so, it does sound like heat...

But depending on the sound of the yowl, it could be something different...

A hollow meow from my cats means that they "caught" something... (usually a stray sock or the bath mat) that they want me to see.

Sometimes they will emit a hollow sounding low-to-high growl if there is an "invader" (a strange cat) outside the window.

Or she could just want your attention.

If she is not spayed....then obviously she is in heat! Take her to the vet and get her spayed. You will not have to worry about pregnancy in the future (if she continues to get out) and you will not have to deal with here going into heat all the time and driving you crazy. She will also live longer and be less prone to getting certain cancers and infections.

She maybe in heat. Why not get her spayed? It would save you from hearing her "yowl" and save her from accidentally getting pregnant.
