The point in neutering @ 6 months (especially in cats) is that the cats need the testosterone to help their urethra grow to its full size. If neutered too early their urethra is to narrow and may lead to blockage when they urinate. Before I was a vet tech I had my male cat neutered @ 5 months and by the time he was a year old he had become blocked and had to be put on prescription diet in order to keep it from happening again. It is VERY painful if they are blocked and have to have catheter put in just so they can go to the bathroom. So please wait until they are 6 months old, especially in males.

It's known as the 7 vs. 700 . Neuter a cat in 7 days after birth or have 700 kittens, before you know it. Sure , it costs a little more to neuter a cat at that age, but sure has to be worth it, considering the outcome otherwise.

My vet refuses to neuter until the cat is 4-5 months previous. it incredibly is her own selection. She is incredibly greater qualified as a super animal vet yet she's very good with the smaller animals too.

I was told to wait until 6 months to neuter my kitten. However, she went into heat prior to that. I had her fixed immediately after that. Maybe 5 months or so...ask your vet to be certain.

Typically when the cat is about 4 months old. Consult your vet, but kittens are better at dealing with the anesthetic when they are get to be this age.

At our rescue, we spay/neuter once they are 2 months old, and weigh 2 lbs. That's the earliest it can be done.
Some people think you should wait until they are 6 months old, but I don't see the point.

At 3# or if in good health (no upper respitory infections) as many shelter kitties can have. You can neuter then as early as 8 weeks

You'll have to check with a vet to be sure, but I think it's at 5 months, maybe 6. I would suggest as soon as possible, because otherwise they start to spray, and mark their territory.
