Yeah, I heard about this recently. This is absurd! This symbol has been and should continue to be our national symbol!!! We're the "dragon's descendants", so to change it is to change our identity. Will we throw away chopsticks to eat with forks and knives next? Other great civilizations have came and gone, except for ours, so let's keep it going for another 5000+ year!
I understand the need to adopt best practices, etc. (and I trust me, the West are likewise adopting our practices i.e. how many elite business schools/programs have adopted the Arts of War in their curriculum), but change this symbol is not the same thing and should not be mentioned again.

Just like that song from 2 decades ago says: "It doesn't matter when and where we are, we are the children of the dragon. And we are going to be the children of the dragon forever." That says it all...
If some one is so bored out of him/her mind and start questioning such obvious matter, he/she should really get a life. Dropping the dragon in China is like telling catholics to abandon God. How nuts!

I say the dragon is the perfect symbol to represent the strength, unity and culture of China. If it were a brand, I would say that a dragon image would have more significance globally to the Chinese than say a red star.

Why would they change it? It's one of the coolest national and cultural symbols out there.
