you know the story of David and Goliath, right? it states that Goliath was a extremely tall man. how did he get so tall (other than that's how God made him)? cuz if you think about it, it doesn't say that Goliath's mother was extrememly tall. so he must have been born the same size as us.

The Bible was written a very long time ago, and it wasn't always normal for be 5"5! Everything is relative to where one stands. Vitamin deficiencies kept people from growing very tall, and most people also died young. In Biblical times, 5 feet was considered tall! Chances are, David was just very short, possibly 4 feet, and our giant Goliath might have been 6!

Even today there are extremely tall humans that are born to regular size parents. Probably not as tall as Goliath though.

Probably a genetic disease. See Ripleys Believe or Not. Many people over the years grew super tall.

He was probably a pituitary giant. It is possible that he had a tumor which made it easy for David to kill him with a hit from a sling shot to the head.

All of the Phillistines were tall but, just like any freak of nature he was the tallest. It's kind of like some of the tribes in Africa can be real tall.
