Models, celebs.. they all got this perfect body... What chances can an average (you know, NORMAL) body typed girl have? Does it really count if your thin? Although Im not complainin with my body type 'cause Im slim. But I see a lot of people judge girls with this. Is that fair? What do you think?

Plumper women and women of a natural weight are becoming more popular, but most people are still a victim of the fashion industry: “THIN is IN.”

Clothing looks best on a hanger, so thin and tall models are very popular on the runway. Because of this these are the pictures that we see on TV, in magazines, in catalogs and on the Internet. This sets the standard for people to favor thin women.

An example of this is Kate Moss. Last year she was caught on film snorting cocaine, but she is still a super model. The publicity was thought to be bad enough to ruin her career, but it didn't.

Personally, I prefer a more reasonable standard. While I tend to favor blondes, Kate Moss is not pretty to me; she is just a stick. The women who try to intimate her are tragic, even if they don't have anorexia or bulimia they are still tragic people unable to fell comfortable in their own bodies and doomed to a life of depression.

In the 1940s and 1950s rounder women were more popular. Jane Mansfield (http://www.jaynemansfield.com) was the cultural standard. She had a D-cup size bra and a reasonable plump body. At this time Hollywood was more important then the Fashion Industry in the court of public opinion. Her modern day requirement is Anna Nichole Smith.

Look at Sophia Loren (http://www.sophialoren.com/about/photos/index.htm), one of the most beautiful women in the world, even at the age of 72. She is not as thin as a model, but has a more normal body frame. She has a killer face though and a classic beauty.

I don’t like women with D-Cup sized bras, I prefer something in a C size or better yet less. I feel that huge breasts get in the way of a close approach to the woman. I also prefer women who are emotionally stable and happy with themselves, not seeking the ideal of being a coat hanger. I was a big fan of the Carpenters so I thought it was a tragedy when she starved herself to death. The world lost a great artist on that day. This was the first time that most people heard about anorexia nervosa, and it brought the problem to public attention. Public interest in anorexia and bulimia are still big problems; you only have to look at the once beautiful, now ugly, Nichole Riche. She reminds me of someone who is dieing of cancer,

Most people think that she has gone to far, but there are still a lot of women who delude themselves into thinking that they will look better if they are thin. Sadly this is true, and has been proven by tests that were inspired by the recent movie The Devil Wears Prada. A woman dressed in a fat suit is treated worse, and receives less attention then that same women, who out of the fat suit is a thin one. In fact she receives a whole lot more attention because she is thin and considered beautiful (I think an episode of ABC’s 20/20 or Primetime conducted this test a few months ago).

Normal size women can still be beautiful, but sadly fat women are rarely seen as beautiful. I am glad that you are comfortable with your body type, but frankly you will have a better chance of being considered beautiful, by most people, if you are thin. This standard is not fair in the least. Developing genetic science has shown that our bodies are programmed to want to gain weight, and when we diet; starve ourselves, the bodies reaction is to try and hold on to all the fat it can. Furthermore some people have a genetic type that results in a larger or thinner person. The larger people have a raving hunger that will take them to their own body’s target weight. Thinner people have a natural metabolism that makes losing weight just as easy, but this makes them appear more beautiful.

Strictly speaking from the biological point of view. Ancient Humans have to struggle to find food. Since they can never be sure to find their food when they do find a lot of food they gorge themselves and store the fat. In fact our bodies have a natural craving for fat because it is such a rare event to find fat animals in the wild (well a bear might have a lot of fat, but we are not built to hunt bears, in fact we are built to be able to run away from them). Since sugar is not common in the natural world humans have a natural craving for it. Sugar is one of the most efficient biochemical fuels. Fruit trees are willing to invest a lot of sugar in their fruit for two reasons: First to encourage animals to eat the fruit, and the seeds, so they can be spread. Second to insure there is a good energy supply available for the seeds to grow.

Once man picked up a rock and started using it as a tool we stopped evolving. Now days we hunt our food in supermarkets and no longer need those primitive genes that made cavemen such successful creatures. Our bodies still think that we are primitive hunter-gatherers. Scientists are looking for ways to turn off these genes, but they have only had limited success.

The entire key to this problem lies in the Fashion Industry. They aren’t the only ones to promote the “Thin is in” concept, but they started it and keep it going. If a designer could find a way to make a woman of a normal size look better in their clothes then we can stop this destructive sterotype.

Put everything in proper perspective---you have to be happy with yourself---first. A person may prefer a particular body type, but it should never be the ONLY reason a person chooses a mate. Time changes all bodies...the largest majority of people will not stay the same forever. Trying to can lead to compulsive behavior---eating disorders and eventually thinking they cannot survivie without being a certain body structure. God gave you what you have--what you do with it is up to you. It is extremely shallow to judge a person solely by looks ---personality and individuality are traits you have to develop over time. Men are visual and are attracted to those relatively few perfect bodied women---the same men who are pretty bad when it comes to how they look. Plenty of your friends are probably not thin---take the time to look at how they carry themselves and mingle with others---a thin model isn't the only thing that matters. Concentrate on all the other things that make you beautiful---your smile, your intellect, your sense of humor, your values, your compassion, your tolerance, your helpfulness, your talents, all of these things make you an individual with beauty. Have a great life.

I think we all secretly want to be thin and prefer thin women. However, this is wrong and our society should not be shaped on what the media says. Stylists agree that designer clothes also hang better on thin women, so the runway will probably always have stick women trotting down. I am also slim and I also see that some people do not enjoy being around larger women. It's a sad fact. I wish it would change.

It is absolutely not fair to judge anyone by how they look. All these models and celebs that are so super thin and basically dying are also some of the ones signing up for detox and AA meetings. That doesn't sound so attractive to me. More and more in "real life" I see girls with some meat on their bones (curvy) walking on the arm of really hot guys, so maybe there's hope yet. Hope for the guys that is because they are the ones missing out on some really great companionship if they only date "skinny" girls. Hope for society too...maybe it will get healthier if anorexia wasn't the accepted size.

No. The woman I'm currently most attracted to is definitely a bit on the pudgy side. And I'm a guy who can go out the door and run five miles with ease. You don't need a perfect body if you find someone who's drawn to you in other ways.

well i am thin and quite attractive i guess, i just wanted to say that thin girls get judged too, and why dont people understand that calling someone skinny is just as bad as calling somone fat and telling someone that they need to eat more is just the same as telling someone they should eat less. and skinny attractive girls are always stereotyped as stuck up and slutty and its not fair. sure i do go out and show off my body alot but hey, you only live once i am lucky enough to look like i do so i mite as well show it all off.
just 1 more thing, thin girls dont get all the perks. my breasts are made of sylicon, yes they look impressive now but that didnt help me in high school while i was being taunted by the larger girls with larger breasts did it

It is not fair, because in todays society women are judged by their out ward appearance and not by their personality's so for the overweight person it is unfair and cruel.I have seen some very large women who if you were to look them in the face they are beautiful but the body is all that is seen it is a shame.

As long as a girl has a good personality and is 'all natural', she can be beautiful. No silicon please! Ladies, have some pride in your bodies. You shouldn't look like plastic toys.
