I have a 1996 buick skylark with the 2.4L twincam 4 cylinder. It has cracked its head at cylinder number 3 and its running horrible. My question is.... Can I put in a 3.1 or 3100 v6 engine since the car is made to handle both 2.4L and the 3.1 for the optional motor. I know the ECM needs to be replace and the Wiring for the motor to ecm and emission control systems. I just need to know if the transmission it has will mount and work with the 3.1. And the difficulty of doing this job for the wiring and installing,,

What causes it to crack its cylinder head. to prevent this from doing it again in the future. This isn't my car but I can tell you has have been neglected the air filter was never changed the air box was full of leaves and dirt and the antifreeze was supposed to have dex cool but it has a Greyish green anti freeze Must have never been flushed. And the Oil was black as charcoal But full on the dipstick. and this a girl thats driving it and she told me a Shop had done a tuneup this summer. It looks like to me they just looked at the car and not have touched anything and charged her for it. I have replaced headgakets before on fords and replaced an intake gasket on a 1999 Grand AM with 3.4 and this engine looks like its going to be a pain to do compared to those...
