This would be a dangerous fight for Oscar because Mugabi was a tremendous puncher at 154. Oscar would have to box and move and show good defense early in the fight. Even a great fighter like Marvin Hagler was cautious against Mugabi early and really didn't open up until about the 6th round. Oscar would have to fight the same type of fight. Boxing, moving and hitting Mugabi with stiff jabs and occasionally throwing in some power shots here and there to mix up his attack and keep Mugabi off balance. Mugabi would just come forward and try to land his bombs against Oscar. Mugabi would try to take De La Hoya to the ropes and pound on him and use his strength much like Vargas tried against Oscar. I see Mugabi tiring and wearing down from Oscar's sharp counters and Oscar's ring savvy would come into play here and he would've stayed out of harms way enough not be damaged by Mugabi's bombs late in the fight as he wins a 13th rd stoppage.

De La Hoya too much skill and he is the faster boxer of the two. He wins by unanimous decision. Mugabi's wear and tear on his face would back up the result.
