Ok, I'm sure this applies to quite a few other people. My mum insists that I am in bed by 10:00pm and I am 15 frikken years old!!! It annoys me and sometimes I answer back (big mistake!). Does anybody have any tips to convince my mum that a 15 year old should be able to make this decision himself, or maybe even go to bed at 10:30pm or something. I feel like a little kid and I get f**k all freedom. Please help!

By the way, I am not allowed to watch TV after bedtime either. I am only allowed to do one thing: Sleep!

I have also tried the compromise, but my mum won't have any of it!

sorry but your parents are right that at 15 a 10 pm bedtime is right for you. while you aren't a little kid anymore, you are NOT our of their house-old-enough to make certain decisions. Just love them and be glad they care.

Being a parent is not an easy task and you get little thanks. It sounds like your mother is trying to do the right thing and make sure that you have a safe and stable upbringing. At 15 you are still a child or young adult and you need a proper nights sleep. I used to go our every night until 4 or 5 in the morning and I wished that my parnets cared enough to evwen ask where I was going?

Maybe they could be a little more relaxed on the weekend though as we all need a little freedom.

You should try to negotiate with them like
"If I do this extra chore today can I stay up for an additional 15-30 minutes?"
It will show them that you are older now and hopefully they will give you more freedom. But if they don't go for it the first time don't get upset and throw a tantrum but still do the chore anyways because that will show them that you are good for your word and that you can be trusted to do it again and therefore they will respect you more. and then maby next time you ask they will say yes.
I would start out with doing this only on the weekends and if you can still wake up on time for school then I would try to move it to the weekdays.
Good Luck and Happy Holidays

on a school night 10 pm is a perfectly reasonable time to be in bed. maybe 11 pm or so at weekends. but you are only 15 and still a child..you dont get to make those kind of decisions yet and parents do do it in your best interest, not just because we can.

In 20 years time you're going to wish you could stay in bed at least five minutes longer and that you'd had the brains to go to bed earlier the night before. Enjoy it. Read in bed, draw, listen to music! The sleep you gain now, you will need later!

Hope my daughter sees this question, she will then know how good she's got it! She just turned 16, she stays up until 11pm then its no tv or pc on a school night, at the weekends she can stay up as long as she wants. I allow her to stay up because she doesn't have any problems getting up in the mornings!

You are a kid, do what your Mum tells you.
You gotta listen to her until your 18.
Go to your room at 10:00 and watch T.V. or something.
