It's really a big step to admit this in a relationship isn't it?

I wrote it in a letter, only I wrote it subliminally. I wrote a nice letter in black ink. Then, I'd find the letter "I", the word "love" and finally "you" and write those words in red ink so that at a look-over the entire page, the sentence "I love you" would be obvious finally. He loved it. He said it back to be soon after. Yes, it is a big step, but the way I would go about it would be to say this:
Look, I love you and don't expect you to say it back or even reciprocate it. It is my gift to you to do with as you please. It's my timing to tell you and you should not feel obligated to tell me back blah blah blah" or something to that effect. It eases the pressure on him yet doesn't compromise how you feel.

Everyone has had a first time when it comes to uttering I love you. It can be thrown around too easily also. Make sure the person you love is loved for all the right reasons. Is the person deserving of your love? The person has to earn it and then you have to remember that love doesn't mean you have to prove it at every turn. It's merely a term of endearment that tells another that your feelings are deep. Are the feelings mutual? Will disclosing a deep feeling make a person uncomfortable? Are you mature enough to accept that love has even entered into your life? You are only young once and maybe taking a relationship into the deep love realm isn't right at this time. Let's say everything is right...the words will simply fall out of your mouth when the time and setting is right...I wish you the best of luck

When I first said "I love you" to my significant other, we had been talking and without even thinking I said "I think I'm falling in love with you." He looked surprised, but then smiled, which was when I changed it and said "Nevermind, I already fell." =) Sounds a bit cheesy now, but I didn't mean for it to be that way.

Usually admitting this in a relationship is a big step, bu that doesn't mean it has to be scary step. It just needs to be a step that feels right.

Yeah its a big thing. When you say I Love You, you have to be serious about it. Saying these words can hurt somebody if its not meant. When I first said I love you, we both had said it to each other at the same time. That's what made it special. You can always wait for your mate to say it first to be sure that what your heart is feeling is what he is saying.

Well my boyfriend and I were friends for a long time before we started dating. Our whole circle of friends would say "I love you" to each other. It was just our thing.

And when we started going out, we just CONTINUED saying "I love you"... so it didn't seem that big a deal ... lol

It is. Sometimes we want to say it to early. I really believe we need to examine what that word means. I believe that the word gets confused with lust a lot of times. Follow your heart.
