Simply ask and/or tell. I too am a nervous guy, and I used to think the same thing (not asking the girl because I was too embarassed), but this is the by far the best way to do it. If you're afraid to ask, then tell him you're attracted to him/think he's cute/etc. You can't fail (unless he's taken, or he's not attracted to you).
The best thing way I've done it is if you know them well (i.e. you talk to him or his buddies a little bit), make sure you're on his good side, and you're dressed alright (don't be too casual, but don't be too strange looking). Then, in a private conversation, tell him how you're feeling. Then, ask if he liked you too/was wondering if you he'd like to go out with you.
If you don't know them, you'll never know unless you or he initiates the convo. Try to capture his eye, or better yet, be straightforward with it and tell him you like him. You don't know how good it will feel when you finally tell him. Also, I know that most guys (being a guy myself) like to be told that they are liked by a girl. It like boosts our confidence or inflates our manly ego, either way, you won't be doing anything wrong. And if he plays you off badly, then he's an asshole and doesn't deserve you anyways.
Remember, if you wait, you might miss out on the chance, and you might regret it.

Send him a single white rose with a note that you are interested in him.... and ask him to send it back to you if he is. White is not a declaration of love as a red one is... so it's more of a friendship color and not so forward.

ask someone, who is close to both of you, to talk to the guy you like. ask that friend of yours to have a usual conversation between the two of them about a particular topic which includes you....at the middle of their conversation, he/she simply ask the guy what does he think of you and gotcha....you'll get the real score without him knowing!!!

just talk to I'm daily and figure out if feels the same for you. if he does then go on from there. go out of your way to find and talk to him in the hallway, put in extra effort to communicate with him if this doesn't work then he must not feel the same.

Either get one of your friends to ask him or one of his friends to ask him or play truth or dare and ask him. Thats the way i found out!
