with in the last ten thousand years, then how come there are fossils of living things from hundreds of million of years ago???

Christians don't believe it happened in the last 10,000 years...I am not sure where you came up with that.

The last ten thousand years? Where'd you come up with that figure. As far as I know, most Christians believe in dinosaurs and all that other pre-historical stuff due to the fact that there are fossils of living things from hundreds of millions of years ago.

This is an assumption by some scientists but not all of them. The fossil record firstly, is COMPLETE . Darwin, himself, knew that the fossil record failed to support his theory. The divisions in the fossil record as Darwin called them, are actually phyla. These divisions or phyla appear - suddenly. BUT ... this is not what Darwin's theory predicts ! Darwin's theory predicts a a long history of GRADUAL divergence from a common ancestor, with the differences becoming slowly, larger and larger until we have what we see today. The fossil evidence, reveals the opposite even, in Darwin's day, that is, the quick or rapid APPEARANCE of phylum-level [divisions] of differences in what is refered to as the CAMBRIAN EXPLOSION. Fossil discoveries over the past 150 years, show that this explosion was more abrupt and extent. Cambrian explosion occurred about roughly, 540 million yrs. ago and is referred to as the "Biological Big-Bang" because it promoted the SUDDEN appearance of most of the major animal phyla [divisions] we see today. Poor ol' Charlie Darwin was WRONG because of his supposition that this would be found to be GRADUAL - it wasn't !!! Palentologists call this the most single - spectacular phenomenon of the fossil RECORD !!! So much for Darwin's branching tree illustration - this chops it down !!! a palentologist in China says that this stands Darwin's tree on its head ! God is dead ... Darwin.

In Genesis it says (Gen 1:1) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
The second verse reads (Gen 1:2) And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Two verses the first one tells us God created the heavens and the earth. The second tells us that something had happened to it, it was without form and void. Scholars believe that something happened to the earth between these two verses. Something terrible. The time between the original creation and the description of the earth in verse 2 could have been millions of years...

Fossils are a fact. Proper dating is another matter.
by the way, you should never date a fossil without permission from your parents. and always try to go on a double date if you do.

From what I understand, fossils from "hundreds of millions of years ago" are dated by a very inaccurate process called carbon dating. I have as much faith in carbon dating as I do in lie detector tests. (Zero.)
