My 2 year old has had some respiratory issues and have been prescribed allergy/asthma meds. Doc also suggested the flu shot as the attack symptoms appear like a cold coming on. Should we get the shot?

My daughter was 11 mos. old when she got a really bad case of the flu...we ended up in the hospital on Thanksgiving day because she couldn't keep anything down! Dehydration can cause death in the young and the old. We had never gotten flu shots before then, but after that bout, I decided it would be a good idea! The flu virus is getting worse and stronger every year. My brother's friend died from complications last year, so I would highly suggest your entire family get the shot. Better safe than sorry!

The flu is greater often than not an ailment a newborn can recover from on her very own besides the undeniable fact that it quite is rather undesirable and it could have some extreme effects like pneumonia so protecting your daughter is a robust theory. bear in mind that the flu shot isn't a hundred% effectual. a newborn who gets a flu shot can nevertheless finally end up coming down with the flu yet some secure practices is truthfully greater effective than none. some could argue that it is not; that the flu shot isn't secure. There are some very uncommon hazards linked with the flu shot besides the undeniable fact that it contains far much less probability than actual having the flu. it quite is a secure vaccine and is heavily monitored. We made specific our little daughter had the flu shot. it quite is a private determination yet we predict of getting that's the suited one.

My son is going to be 4 yrs old, and has never had the flu shot nor the flu. I feel that sometimes the side effects can be just as bad as the flu itself. He goes to daycare everyday and has never had a problem. Dont know if this helps.

I'd listen to the doc, unless you've had bad experience with flu shots before. You could always get a second opinion from another pediatrician.

Yes especially if she goes to daycare or a private babysitter. Both of my kids, 7 and 3 yrs old, have gotten them since they were babies and have never gotten the flu. Its just a precaution to take, you don't want to have a sick baby.
