The more you surrender your life to God. The more you will grow closer to Him. How, read the Word of God, Pray often, go to Church, be a Soul Winner, and remember Others.
Hope you and your family have a great Christmas.
16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Reading and memorizing God's Word, and prayer are both very important....
Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. 12For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. 14Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

The christian life can be compared to a 3 - legged stool. All three legs must be there or else you fall off. and if one of the legs is shorter, then you might not fall off but you will be off-balance.
in the christian life, the three legs are prayer, bible study, and fellowship with other believers. these three aspects of our lives with Christ are absolutely fundamental to our growth.
prayer = not just presenting a shopping list to god but real communion with Him, getting to know Him, listening to Him, loving Him, praising Him
bible study = we are called to students of the word, reading the word, memorizing verses, studying passages, etc.
fellowship = we need other believers, to pray with, to study with, to talk to, to bear each other's burdens
so I would encourage you to develop in all three areas. learn to pray more, take time to read the bible more, get involved with other christian's lives.
if you do, you will grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus.
god bless

Read the bible to understand God, talk to God through prayer, and obey God's commandments and He will bring Himself closer to you.

Open up your heart and listen and feel. You don't need to get closer because God is always with us, we may send him away from time to time but he never really leaves us, we just don't always understand that.

Psalm 119:9-16
How can a young man keep his way pure?
By living according to your word.
I seek you with all my heart;
Do not let me stray from your commands.
I have hidden your word in my heart
that I might not sin against you.
Praise be to you, O Lord
teach me your decrees
With my lips I recount
all the laws that come from your mouth.
I rejoice in following your statues
as one rejoices in great riches.
I meditate on your precepts
and consider your ways.
I delight in your decrees;
I will not neglect your word.

Pray for Him to draw you closer to him. Read parts of the Bible every day and ask him to reveal what he wants you to know.

Keep the unchanging and eternal Catholic (Universal, Rom 1.5,8) Faith of the apostles. "Hold the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me in faith..." (2 Tim 1.13) "By which also you are saved, if you hold fast after what manner I preached unto you" (1 Cor 15.2). "Hold fast our confession [this proves that the Faith of the Apostles can not be corrupted as heretics insist; otherwise, why HOLD FAST to it?]" (Heb 4.14).
"... Without faith it is impossible to please God" (Heb 11.6). It is only through the true, universal, and eternal Apostolic Faith that we can get closer to union with the God of Truth. "I will espouse thee to me in faith: and thou shalt know that I am the Lord" (Osee 2. 20). God bless!
