I am only 19, and I have found several gray hairs in my head. It is very healthy and full. Also, it is not in my family line to have premature greys. What could this be? How can I stop it besides using artificial dye?

All it means is that some of your hair follicles are not producing melanin any longer. The amount of melanin in your hair is what determines how light or dark it will be. It is usually caused by genetics. Maybe someone you don't know about greyed prematurely. Also, just because you found a few grey hairs does not mean you will be entirely grey anytime soon. The only thing you can do about it is cover it up with hair color, blend it in with highlights, or try a shampoo and conditioner that contains some pigment.

well im only 16 and i have alot of grey hair i have been having since i was in the 4th gradse so yeah that sucks for me but it runs in my dads family. he was all salt and pepper my senior year. anyways i heard it is triggered by stress and sometimes a hormonal imbalance. so you might want to go to your doc but it's probably not anything like that . just think of it as your wiser then most. it is very frustrating for me though
