I asked this a few days ago but I guess I wasn't too much in detail so let me try again.

I got my period on 11-25-06. Other than a couple of days it stopped, I've been bleeding since. I'm also getting cramps and severe lower back pain at times. 30 years old, not on birth control, haven't had sex for a couple of months, not pregnant, no major stress, and never had something like this happen before.
Should I be alarmed? What if it gets worse or something. I've called the gyne and I can't get in for 3 weeks.

I'm sorry to hear that. I had a similar problem when I was in my thirties as well. I don't know what yours may be, but mine was the uterus wall and I had to have a partial hysterectomy. Hopefully that isn't what yours is.

Can you call another gyno for an earlier appointment? I can understand your concern about this matter. Just get a telephone book and start calling other gynos for an earlier appointment (well, make sure also that they are part of your work benefit plan so you don't have to pay for the full cost of seeing the gyno). I'm concerned that you might lose too much blood and faint.

What's going on is most likely what is known as dysfunctional uterine bleeding, where your hormones get out of whack, most likely because of a surplus of estrogen causing your uterine lining to have overgrown, so after your most recent period, you just continue to bleed as your body tries to slough off its endometrium (uterine lining). If this is indeed what you have, you need to visit your physician and he/she will prescribe you about ten days worth of progestin-containing birth control pills to help your body get back on its regular cycle. Since you can't get in to your GYN, you can be seen for this at any urgent care or family physician. If this is not what you have, the physician will be able to tell you so as well.

You REALLY need to see a doctor. See your GP, because there is a new non-hormonal medication on the market now that can halt bleeding while you wait to see the gyno. If the pain is not managed with regular painkillers, you need to go to the emergency department of your local hospital - they can also assess you and get you to see a gyno quicker if they decide it is necessary.

Unexplained bleeding and/or pain is ALWAYS serious! Please do something now!

This could be serious if you are having some heavy bleeding it could be a sign of fibriod tumors or if this bleeding is 2 weeks before your cycle it could be that you are ovulating cause every women ovulates 10 days before her period it's normal just be sure to get this check soon as possible cause this is also a sign of cervical cancer I do'nt want to scare you but it's true!
