On their necklace or other jewelry, does that make them automatically christian or do some atheists/agnostics/etc wear it simply because it looks good?

Madonna wears them. Gangsters have been known to. So I'm going to say you don't have to be a Christian.

wearing a cross does not make you a Christian, anymore then wearing boxing gloves makes you a boxer. If I wear a police uniform does that make me a cop? no but it might make some people think I am. Once they think I am, if I behave badly, they will say, look at that cop, he is bad news and should be kicked out of the police force.

Some wear the cross just to make the REAL deal look bad. Others do it because they think its a nice piece of jewelry. Than there are those who do it because they are the real deal and want the world to know it.

No, a peice of jewelry, church attendance, parents, school, "believing that", giving all your money, cannot make you a Christian. You can never ""do" enough to save your soul. Even just knowing the truth is not enough. The demons believe and they shudder. You must believe enough to accept Jesus' blood forgiveness and His position as Lord. If He is Lord then He has a right to tell you what to do, and expect you to obey. He has a right to expect your to forsake your sin and cling to Him. It is your choice come to Him, His Way, or go your own way (that leads to eternal death). I have seen people who hate Christ or who say they respect Him only as a man and teacher wear crosses. Considering His statements and the pharisees response to Him, it is not reasonable to believe He was only a Good man. (He was either Lunatic, Liar, or Lord.)

Not everyone who wears a cross is a Christian. Many non-Christian people just like the look of them.

The cross is a sacred symbol much older than christianity, so they aren't the only ones who wear them. I don't assume someone wearing a cross is a christian. If I really want to know their religion (and I usually don't care) I just ask.

ETA: For those who don't know, it's one of many, many types of a Sun Wheel. The Swastika or Fylfot is still the more common representation, however.

Some people wear crosses because they like the Christian symbolism. However, unfortunately, too many people wear them out of superstition. Even if they consider themselves Christians, they are basically pagans, if they think a symbol like that will protect them.

I am not really a religious person but I wear a cross pendant on my necklace. I like it, and it was handed down to me by my grandmother. I am sure lots of people wear them for other reasons besides religion.

I know a Wiccan who used to wear crosses when she was a teenager, just because she thought they looked cool with her goth wardrobe. She finally gave her crosses away after other Wiccans gave her a hard time about it (I've still got one of them). I've met several non-Christians who wore crosses. It's usually a sign that someone's a Christian...but not always.

I would wear one just cause they look cool, well i would have before they are pretty out of style now. I would probably rather waer a pentagram, anarchy symbol, sign of Baphomet.Hexagram, or the Satanic Cross (not the upside down one)
