OK, I just want everybodys opinion on this. Yes the Brits are a highly celebrated and disiplined force. One of the best in the world. The US military is a young military, although if you ask anyone with any military knowledge, they will agree that the US military is the most feared in the world right now becuase of thier force projection. However, when the brits and americans team up, there isn't a objective that can't be siezed and held. So my hats off to both militaries. Rock on!

ARMY ALL THE WAY!

Some Significant differences in training and equipment make up the difference. Man to Man they are the same but we have better everything else from Airplanes to Tanks.

Nobody can hold a candle up to a US strike force.

The British army's considered one of the best in the world and is extremely well trained they preform well despite there equipment been poor quality. The MOD (ministry of defense) is badly underfunded. They also have a lot of experience and teach there officers better they are regarded as the worlds best in urban warfare mostly because of the Conflict in northern Ireland.

Americas army isn't that well trained and make up for it in fire power. They have superior fire power but at the end of the day often the British do a better job in the field they rely on skill of the soldiers and commanders not the amount of bombs they can drop on the enemy.

The US army lost in Vietnam because they where not working to get the ppl on there side they just believed there fire power would defeat the Vietcong and north Vietnamese army. they didn't work on hearts and minds. where the British who though a war against communist Guerrillas in Malaysia only a few years before won the war because they gained the support and respect of the locals. the British went into towns and built wells and gave the locals food and supply in return the locals welcomed the British soldiers and where aggressive and unfriendly towards the Guerrilla's.

Iraq is the the same the American sit behind there road blocks and in there tanks, apc's and Humvee. where the British walk the streets talking to the locals often not wearing full combat dress so that the locals don't consider them a treat they arnt acting aggressive here they are wearing a soft hat and camo uniform they arnt sitting in a tank with a machine gun pointed at you. who would u rather?

I once read in a book about the US marine an officer said to some new recruits maybe if you train really really hard you might be almost as good as a royal marine.

LOL we have Brits here with us in Afghanistan. Great bunch. It is mostly friendly. If I wasn't in the US Army I would serve with the UK any day. Plus, we (deployed soldiers) have a little jealosy going. Brits get a beer/pint every now and then over here. Honestly they are a great bunch and very very good at their jobs. And Yes, together (without politicians) there isn't anyone that could stand up against us.

The British are extremely proud of there history. This tiny Island nation once had an empire the sun could not set on. Plus, we are both two Armies separated by a common language (George S Patton, quoting Bernard Shaw).

alright, i've never really heard of a major rivalry between the two. Personally, I think the US is top in the world, but your right about what happens when we work together. I'm in the air force, and it's a given that we have the most highly advanced weapons in the world, but I love the RAF!!!

We need something to argue about over an nice dark ale. It easy to lay most question to bed, who build the fastest car, who builds the biggest ships, ETC, but we can go on for hours on whos military is better.

Brits get to shoot first and ask questions later....we have to knock on the door, ask if everyone is decent, and wipe our feet on the mat when we come in.
