I am going to a theme costume party on Friday night. I own a blond wig but I need to dress up as a brunette for the character I am going as. I can not afford to buy a new wig.

Probably not. Either try to dye it with clothing dye from an artist's store or material shop (ask the women at the counter what they'd suggest), or choose another character.

if you want to die a wig you need to get special wig die wich can be pretty expensive at some places but you can get it in the 20$ range and the only reason i know this is from acting

if you have blonde hair it will naturally get bleached by the particular sun in the summer. There has been this guy in my class who else had golden blonde hair that had been a medium brown near the bottom. When he came back to college after summer vacation, it was nearly platinum blonde!
