my young cousin has it, do not worry too much, they have a lot of energy in them. get them into sports to run around and you will be fine. (ie, hockey, soccer, cycling, swimming) it will do them wonders, and you as well.

I don't have it but know people who do. A great comprehensive book is The ADD Book by Sears and Thompson.
Some people with ADD have other disorders; depression, OCD, etc.
There are many symptoms. I suggest you google the many ADD sites and see what they list and their suggestions. Many suggest medication, however, I don't think that is always the answer. I believe in what is said in the ADD book, that other natural measures should be tried first; proper diet, behavior modification, biofeedback, etc. There are even natural tonics on the market that are said to work, especially in children.
When all else fails, and a good amount of time has been given to see what does not work, medication may be the answer. Counseling is necessary too.
In order to properly diagnose ADD, a team that specializes in the evaluation of people with ADD needs to be seen. They should have a 700 point test asking many questions of teachers, family members, doctors that have been seen, etc.
Other physical and mental problems need to be ruled out.

Mind racing especially at night, feet are always fidgeting, mood swings. I take an antidepressant, Cymbalta, that has stopped the mindracing and mood swings.

Giving someone pills for this is totally inappropriate. Covering it up? Meds don't truly fix it.
What you need is to cultivate awareness. Simple. Easy. Real.
