If some good evidence for life after death were announced, I'd be eager to examine it; but it would have to be real scientific data, not mere anecdote....

I prefer truth. Belief in an afterlife is life-degrading, because it devalues the life we have here on Earth -- which, as far as any reasonable speculation goes, is all we get.

I suppose it depends on what you're looking for. If you want something that makes you feel all warm and tingly inside, then definitely go for the "We All Live In The Clouds With Jesus For Ever And Ever" fantasy. On the other hand, if you care more about your beliefs actually having some validity, then I think you're probably better off sticking to the cold, hard truth.

Theres always shows on TV about life and death, Im not sure exactly what sort of scientific data you would need.

On the first question. Hard truth is better. It's better to know that you will be responsible in eternity for your actions here and not rest in the comfortable fantasy of nonexistance.

Maybe you should read Sylvia Brown's books, or maybe John Edwards. Or check in with Dionne Warwick's Psychic Friends Network.

Other than them and those of their ilk, or witches, warlocks and other assorted Shamans' and charlatans, there is no evidence.

That's why it's called FAITH.

Without faith, the world would be a very dark, dreary, and hopeless place. I don't know what is that provides you with hope, but our faith is what provides it for Believers.

I agree with you on the fact that only logic and reason should be let into science, but I would also like to point out that science does not have all of the answers. It only has 50% of the answers. God exists in the other 50%, along with faith, the soul, spirituality, emotions, love, the afterlife, and supernatural phenomenon.
