There is something wrong with a 39 year-old man dating an 18 year-old. A normal, mature man that age would have NOTHING in common with an 18 year old except: sex. You are young and very imited in life experience, he will take advantage of that, use you for sex and an ego boost for him, and then move on. Lots of men have their "mid life crisis" around 40 because they are aging. Of course, poking a young 18 year-old woman will make him feel like a REAL man. He can't take you to a bar and for him thats a good thing. Because when he wants to ditch you and chase some other hoes he can just go to a bar! It depends on more than age. How long have you known them? How well do you get along beyond the physical? Is it love or infatuation? I have been in love before once with a girl 7 years older than me and i did have a strong intimate bond with a woman 20 years older than me but she kept a distance because she felt that later in life it could be a burden.

Ask yourself this when they are 70 and you are 40 will you be able to still remain close to them both emotionally and physically? You should never give your heart to someone you cannot see yourself becoming a part of.

Possibly. But you really must look at the situation with a critical eye and prepare yourself for the hard road ahead. Because of the vast age difference there will be obstacles you will face that couple of the same age wiil not have. But if you really care for this person , nothing should stand in your way.
